I used this one time and the handle broke off! Not worth the money. Of course I couldn't find the sales slip to return. It may work great but is so poorly made one will never know.

I've used mops, Swiffer Wet Jet, and even another floor steamer, but this is the best. No chemicals to buy. No pads to replace. You can refill the reservoir without turning it off, and you aren't just moving dirty water around. This is steam that vaporizes the dirt and marks. It's a money saver and a very "green" product.

I bought a Shark Steam mop model S3101 (I could not find a serial number on it) from a Target in Decatur Alabama a few weeks ago (I had wanted to buy a Bissel steam mop because they were more highly rated by customers, but was told that these were only available online so I went ahead and bought the Shark Steam mop).
It made steam and all that (although it took at least three times longer than they say to really get up a good head of steam), but it left streaks and a dull sheen on the linoleum floor when I used it. I had spilled some chicken noodle soup on the kitchen floor and had gotten it up with paper towels. But when I ran the Shark steam mop over the area, it left streaks and a dull sheen on the floor. I put another new pad on it but with the same result. I was afraid I had ruined the floor. I decided to try to find out what was causing the problem. I got down on the floor and ran my finger over the area, and it left a streak. There was still some transparent chicken fat on the floor, and the Shark steam pad had not gotten it up, but had only smeared it around. I took the Shark pad in my hand and ran it over the area several times, but it did not get this oily or greasy film up. For comparison, I obtained a microfiber cloth that is designed for cleaning, and ran it over the area, and it did get most of it up--whether dry or wet it got most of it up. I had not washed the new Shark pads before using them as they had recommend, and I thought that maybe they put some sort of protective coating on it that had to be removed, so I washed and dried the pads, but with the same result. This time, I put a few drops of tap water on the linoleum floor and touched a clean, dry Shark pad down on it, but it absorbed very little of it, and when I ran the pad over the drops, it smeared them into streaks. The same test with the microfiber cloths I had readily absorbed all the water, and left no streaks. I repeated the test with a little butter that I thinly smeared on the floor. The clean, dry Shark pad smeared it around without absorbing any significant amount of it. The same test with the microfiber cloths absorbed it in a couple of swipes. The difference between the microfiber cloths and the shark pads was startling--like the difference between night and day. I can only conclude that there is little if any microfiber in the surface of the Shark pads that came with my machine, although they advertise it as being microfiber. The pad is said to be triple layer, and I did not cut it open and test the inside layers--but there was no point in that since it is the outer surface of the pad that does most of the absorbing. Apparently Shark’s manufacturers (in China) were cutting corners by using regular terry cloth instead of microfiber terry cloth, and their quality control department was not picking that up. I bought some real microfiber terry cloth in Wall Mart’s auto section (that is used for detailing cars), and am going to use it to make my own pads for the Shark steam mop.
The Shark electric cord needs to be tied at a point up towards the handle to keep it out of the way of the steam mop head, and for many rooms it also needs to be extended with an extension cord to make it longer. The water reservoir is fairly small, so for most houses you would have to stop and refill it a couple of times. But it is the Shark pad itself that is the most serious problem.

My mom bought one and wouldnt stop talking about it so I finally went and got one.
I have laminate wood floors throughout my house and I only had to refill it a couple of times. And the cord was plenty long enough for each room. It even worked great on my tile floors in the the bathrooms.
If anyone has allergies to strong smelling cleaners like I do, I highly recomend this product. It left my house smelling clean without the heavy cleaner smell.

I have owned this for about 3 months now. It does work but it took me over a month to actually figure out the best ways.
First of all if your floor is really dirty and you don't mop frequently then the pads will leave streaks. This product I believe is made to make frequent moppings easy but not work well if you don't mop atleast once or twice a week.
Also I found that using alittle vinegar in it helped with the streaks. I never tried the distilled water due to expense and inconvenience.
Also I found that you have to pump the handle quick about ten times to get it started and make it easier to push. Until I figured this out I had sore arms trying to push this thing around for 30 minutes!
It does dry quick if you use it properly. If you don't then you will have excess water on the floor.
Also the cord is way to short and it doesn't recommend using it with an extension cord.
Now the worst part for me is that it fell over and the handle snapped off. I am going to try to take it to target to get another one. If not I am going to invest in another steam mop.

Let me set the stage by saying I have 4 dogs and two children under the age of 4. I do get my home cleaned every two-weeks by a crew, that do a good job, I also do a litle vacuuming and mopping during the off week. The dogs make a mess from outside or other stuff, and the kids are on the floor. I have laminate and tile w/light color grout. I saw this item on an infomercial and finally got my wife to buy into the idea.
The product is o.k., let's start with the good. It is relatively easy to put together, and use. The handle is a little wobbly as mentioned in previous reviews, this is because the way the mop works. You need to pump the mop to get water into the heater area that makes steam. To fill the mop included is a funnel and also a cup. I think this is kind of cumbersome to drag around both these parts, and what happens if you lose one? Filling is quick, the mop warms up fast.
You pump I think it is 10 - 15 times to get enough water to steam, and off you go. I'm a fairly strong guy so mopping wasn't a problem. It does clean up the floors very nice. When I used filtered, and not distilled water I didn't get any streaking. When I used tap water, there was a bit of streaking, nothing terrible. I love the fact that I'm not dragging around dirty water, and then cleaning the floor with dirty water. It cleans up nicely and dries just as fast.
Now the not so good. I don't say bad because it isn't really that bad. I think the infomercial is kind of misleading. This mop was not able to get my grout clean. I belive the infomercial showed the mop cleaning very dirty grout. Mine isn't terrible, it just didn't pick up the grout. I left the mop over the area for a while, mopped several times, same result. If I sit with a grout scrubber I can clean the grout. I was hoping for a tool that was less... manual. The floor is clean, the grout line the same. I might need the hand-held steamer. This is really my only complaint.
As mentioned in other reviews the cord is a little short. This is liveable. [...]

I bought this mop, and let me tell you it does the job. I absolutely love it, and really can't stop mopping my floors with it. I have white tile, and it's really hard to keep clean. This mops helps so much with that, and it's very easy to use. It really does work great. There is only thing that i recommend. If you have tile throughout the whole house like I do, buy the extra pads.

I had seen this item on TV ads and being the skeptic that I am really did not believe the claims. Once Target started carrying it, we figured, "what the heck, we can always return it easily if it does not work". Well, it REALLY WORKS! Our hardwoods had residue that we had tried everything for over 4 months to get rid of. One time over them with this almost completely removed all the residue, after two times, GONE. Also, excellent results on the tiles on kitchen, sunroom and bathrooms. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Expected Better...

I have watched the infomercial for this product and read some of the reviews and had high hopes it would work. So I decided to try it for myself, however I was dissapointed. I have tile floors throughout my house and it didn't do much better than a [...] mop. The pads just pushed around the dirt rather than actually mopping it up (yes, I swept before I tried this product) and it took several tries to remove marks and stains off the floor. I expected a much better performance from this product especially [for the price]. In the end I will stick with my [...] Mop.

I use the shark on my hardwoods, laminate, and tile floors and my floors have never been cleaner and i Think its easy to use. I gave it 4 stars because the cord is a bit too short and unweildy. I do recommend this product...its a great alternative to chemicals especially if you have allergies, pets, kids etc.
