ok so for all of the people that say dont get it because its messy! is the weirdest thing i have ever heard of. ofcourse its messy its sand! any who i bought a few 5lb buckets and we have a sand activity table and i use that its so much fun. im 18 month old has a blast he wants to play in it at LEAST once a day. it is messy and would be a great out door thing but we have the table in the play room with painter plastic under neith it and that works out great for us! kinda expensive but worth every penny. when you use the molds some time the stuff falls apart but oh well he still plays in it for almost 2 hours every time so its awesome!

We bought two colors for my 7 year old son. He enjoyed the idea of Moon Sand, which is that is a non-messy modeling sand. But it doesn't really work as advertised. It *does* fall apart and it does make a mess. It's like playing with wet sand.

On the plus side, it was easy enough to clean up. Anything on the table I just swept onto the floor and the vacuumed it up. Also, it didn't dry out, so your "wet sand" was always wet. And my 4 year old got hold of it and mixed the two colors (red and blue) and got a dark shade of purple.

In the end, though, the messy falling-apart sand models were just annoying and we ended up throwing it away.

I beg to differ with the previous reviewer. My daughter received the princess Moon Sand kit as a birthday gift on her second birthday, and she and I have been hooked on it ever since. She is now 3-1/2 and we still LOVE it! I clean off my dining room table and spread out a mat on it and she and I can spend two hours at a time playing with the Moon Sand making molds. She was taught at a very young age how to treat her toys, so she doesn't throw the Moon Sand and she's careful to keep it on the table as much as possible. If it falls off the able, all I do is vacuum it up. The sand doesn't stick to the carpet or floor and is VERY easy to clean up.... MUCH more so than Playdoh which sticks into the carpet. Also, Moon Sand doesn't dry out if you leave it out of the container, which is FABULOUS! I've purposely left it out for five days and it didn't dry out unlike Playdoh, which dries out in less than a day. My nieces and nephews all had Moon Sand growing up and still enjoy playing with it. Also, you can make molds with Moon Sand, spray them with a water mister, leave then set and within a few days they will harden so you can keep the molds as figurines. Great stuff!
