I recommend not to use both pieces together, it makes the car seat really cramped for your baby.

I used the smaller support for my son at 0-2 months, and then used the larger one until he could support his own head.

They are very comfortable and fit nicely in the seat, and they machine wash nicely.

Although, we no longer use it (our child is about 4 months and weighs about 16 lbs and can fit her head better in the car seat), this head support is great (mine is slightly different but the idea is still the same -perhaps we own an older, discontinued color and style). When our girl would sweat up a storm, she didn't stick to the car seat or leave it wet. It always kept her comfortable and snug.

We needed extra padding for our daughter until she was 8 weeks. The head support in the car seat did not support her head enough for my comfort level. We also use it in the house for her bouncy seat and swing. Very easy to unsnap from the car seat straps.

We didn't have this with our first child, but got it before the birth of our second. With our first, her head would slide down to the side or front, and I really wish I had this back then. We haven't used the inner padding... it made things too cramped on our little one, but it may come in useful for smaller babies. We have been using the outer one and it does a wonderful job of keeping her head securely, but comfortably, in place. It is easily removed. Definitely a quality product.
