My brother bought one first, and used it exclusively for a year on our camping trips. Eventually, I chose to get one, and like him, used it exclusively. Prior to that, I was using a magnesium bar. Comparing the two - 1)the FireSteel is lighter, 2)the MagBar's flint rod is only glued in and may fall off on you too, 3)the FireSteel will not require you to dull a knife. I favor the FireSteel, and bought my 10 year old one for her camp-pack (she likes it too).
