I bought this ice maker 2 months ago I ran it continuously for about 10 days, to stock my freezer with ice....it worked great.
I put it away for about a week and once again took it out to make ice and it is still making ice perfectly. I am satisfied with this item. As a natter of fact a friend who is amazed at my ice maker is buying one.

I bought this unit thinking it was the best invention other than slice bread and i was totally disappointed. Just after 2 weeks the unit stopped working. It was a pain to return because of not having a comparable unit to replace and being left with out an ice maker.
Buyer Beware!

After just 3 cycles of ice cubes, our machine shows the "add water" error despite the fact that it was just filled with distilled water. I have turned it off, back on, emptied and refilled, changed the size of the ice setting, let it sit unplugged over night, and nothing worked. I went online to see if there were any suggestions or tricks to get it to "reset" but only found others had also had this problem with no remedy.
In addition, all 3 cycles had slightly off tasting ice cubes. The first cycle I missed the "distilled water" recommendation. The last 2 we did and they still tasted funny upon melting. Buying distilled water was also an unanticipated hassle and extra expense were were not anticipating when buying it either.
I bought this thinking it was a cheaper and more flexible alternative to fixing our sub-zero ice maker. I will be returning it.
Considering this is a discontinued model, maybe the electronic errors is why it was discontinued.

We recently purchased two of these machines when they were on sale and had to return both machines due to the fact that we kept receiving messages to add water. No matter what we did or tried we could not get the machine to work. Now we have a Majic Chef and we love it, highly recommend paying a little more to get a great product.

Inferior Product

The water basket cracked on ours and try to find a replacement part!!!! We'd had the appliance for less than a year. Emerson gave us a runaround from phone number to phone number, with no one at Emerson being able to help. I would never buy an Emerson product again, whatever it is. I consider their products inferior and there is NO customer service. We now have to purchase another one and it obviously won't be an Emerson!!!

The negative to this item: it takes up too much counter space!
The solution: Make up a "HEAP" of very nice cubes (Bullits) and store them in Ziplock Bags, keeping bags somewhat flat so they will stack. Store them in your deep freezer for future use while you store your Ice Maker in a out-of-the-way place. Cubes will not EVAPORATE as they will in a tray. Ice maker works very well, good investment!
Our Daughter in Daytona Beach, Florida also bought one & brags on the fact that she makes them from bottled water as their local water supply has an "AWFUL" taste.

I purchased this ice maker after checking the online reviews, many not favorable. I have used it for more than a week and seems to work perfectly. For the price this machine performs above expectations. Looking at all site selling these type of ice makers this is the least expensive by far. The unfavorable reviews are possibly due to one of two issues I noticed. While in the process of making ice a fair amount of heat is expelled. Do follow the instructions about space allowed. If in a confined space enough heat could build to cause damage to the parts inside. I use water filtered through a Brita, and still I notice a small amount of sediment in the bottom after use. Recommend drain daily per instructions and then wipe out the water container to prevent the sediment from accumulating in the water intake; if you use plain tap be very careful. I have made ice twice daily since purchase, takes about 2-3 hours for enough to fill a work cooler and daily home use. I would highly recommend.

I purchased this little unit in June and use it non stop with out a problem.
The lights work just fine and at times it makes more ice then I would like but that is do to the ice stacking around the sensor.
I may have well been one of the lucky ones but I enjoy this ice maker daily and have only unplugged it when I go to clean it.
