Well as an aspiring makeup artist and future salon owner I understand where they were trying to go with this but it is a total miss. The whole idea of putting one look into a little cosmetic palette is great, and the thought that it will teach you to do the smokey eye the correct way is what you in. First off using black in a smokey eye is a no no. It makes it too dark unless you have much experience with makeup and know how to blend it correctly. For first timers I do not reccommend this product because you will end up with a black eye instead of a smokey one. The look that the model on the front of the package has and the look that they explain to you is totally different. The directions are totally wrong. They should show you step by step how to use the eyeshadow. The eye shimmer is all wrong, it gives you more of a teenage glitter eye than a sexy smoldering smokey eye, and takes the look way to over the top. It makes it look to synthetic. On the other hand you can do a day to night look with this pallette. For day I would reccommend only using eye 2 and eye 3 and blending them, then using lip 1 and the blush and shimmer powder. For a night time look I would reccommend using all three eye shadows but not the eye shimmer unless you like the 13 year old I love glitter look, or are going somewhere like a dance club or low key party, also for night use lip 2 and the blush and shimmer powder. Overall I was dissapointed with the product because you think you will get a product that will really teach you something and instead it just ends up dissapointing.

I tried and tried but I could not re-create the smokey eye look. It looked more like a black eye. And the glitter that is supposed to go over the whole eye was horrible, it ended up all over my face. I even had a make-up night with a friend and she couldn't get the look down.

I was really excited to buy this kit because I have seen similar kits go for a lot more and I always wanted to try the look, but it was a total waste. I love Sonia Kashuk's other eye shadows, so I had really high hopes for this one but, it turned out to be really disappointing. The lip shades were nice, and so were the cheeks, so I can see how the whole look would come together, but I bought it mainly for the eye, and it just never worked.

I've been looking for a good smokey set and this was perfect. As for everyone who put low stars on this, practice makes perfect and its really easy to use this if you have the right brushes also.

I love this palette, to me it is awesome. If you took it apart it would just be a few shadows, lip gloss, and some blush...don't be afraid of it people, it's just makeup. The whole idea was to do smoky eyes with this palette but at least have some idea as to how to blend and place the colors. I already know how to create smoky eyes, generally this palette is just providing you all the colors to work with, ultimately it is up to the customer to decide how to use them.
Here is some advice to those that gave it a few stars, practice makes perfect. You just have to practice and practice... that's all.

Love this makeup. It goes on so smooth. Bought this kit to try the smokey eye look and have ended up going back for the whole line of makeup. It goes on smooth and lasts all day.
