Poorly Executed Toy

I want to love this toy because of the money it cost. But at 8 months old my daughter's favorite part is the little balls it came with so she can chew on them. She loves when the animals are popped up - her favorite thing is to push them down, which is why I gave this a three. But other than that, this toy is a waste. It is SO HARD to get the animals to pop up, it's hard for me and my husband, let alone a baby. It's just not worth the money. I wish I would have bought a play table with piano/storybook instead of this.

After seeing this toy online, I searched everywhere for it locally. I broke down and bought it online. Overall, I am disappointed with this toy. The concept is great but it was not executed well. All the components are cheaply made. The mirror was scratched up before it even came out of box and quickly got worse. The sliding color "beads" portion is barely usable as the bars that cross are too close, preventing you from sliding a plastic disk/"bead", if one is on the other bar. The pop up characters are very difficult for my one year old and make no musical sounds, and the ball pit has only 3 balls, which often stick at the bottom of the cup - again with no sound. The only musical/sound component incorporated is on the star portion. It says shapes and color names and lights up. This toy could be so much more if they'd just incorporated more into it - like quality components, more resound and light elements, functional sliding pieces, and pop up characters that a baby can not only play with are also a little exciting.

This was given to me as a gift and my son, now 7 months old, plays with it all the time. My only complaint is the little pop-up animals are too hard to 'pop-up'. (Even my friend's 2 year old can't get it to work.) But he loves to put them back down when I pop them up for him.
All the other parts are fun and easy to play with!

The Connect & Play Zone we purchased is still kind of new but so far my 6.5 month granddaughter is very happy with parts of it. She only plays with a couple of them right now but I imagine as she grows she will be able to play with all of it. She enjoys it and I believe she will have many more months to learn all the specific functions. It's a great toy in my opnion.
