My friend bought one of these vacuums at Target several months ago. When my canister vac died, I borrowed her Eureka Capture. This is absolutely the BEST vacuum I have ever used! It picks up ALL the dirt, not just on the surface, but from deep, down underneath the carpet. I was utterly amazed at the cleaning power of this vacuum. It is also extremely easy to operate and maintain. The dirt collector slips in and out with ease, but locks in tight when you are using it. I am planning to buy one of these for myself this week. I would recommend this vacuum to EVERYONE! It does well on my hardwood floors also!

I live with 3 indoor cats.I had a lot of pet hair and dust in the house that my old vacuum didn't seem to be picking up--so I bought the Eureka Capture Upright with Pet Hair Brush. This vacuum is OUTSTANDING!! I can not BELIEVE the dust and hair this machine picks up!My 8 year old carpets look refreshed!** Note-this vacuum is heavy [about 21 lbs.] and although it's bagless-you do have to clean the filters as directed, BUT - the enclosed instructions make that simple. The attachments make it a snap to get into tight corners and under and around furniture. My house looks and feels so much cleaner!I love when I find a product that actually does what it says it will!If you have pets that share your home-you'll love how this machine makes the pet hair and dander disappear!!Thank you Eureka, for a really wonderful vacuum cleaner, at an affordable price!

I bought this vacuum a week ago and now I wonder how I ever cleaned without it! It picked up everything that my old vaccum missed and left my house smelling cleaner than it had in months. The attachments are excellent, especially the telescopic duster. This vacuum is heavy, but it moves very easily and it is easy to adjust to vacuum under furniture. Great Job Eureka!

In researching for a new vacuum, we were not even looking in the direction of the Eureka vacuums. My wife wanted the Healthy Home and I wanted the Lift Off, both by Bissell. After going to the store to actually buy one of the two, we saw this Eureka. We started comparing it to the Bissell units that we liked. We walked out with the Eureka at a lower price than either of the Bissell units. Once we got it home, assembled and started using it, we were AMAZED at all of the dirt that it sucked out of our carpet. With a brand new baby, it was imperative that we get a quality unit. This was it. WE are so glad that we bought this vacuum. Great suction. Not heavy. Very manueverable. Don't walk to the store to buy this, RUN.

We have a white long-haired cat that sheds terribly....it was so bad that I toyed with the idea of giving her away. NOTHING would pick up the hair from the carpet or furniture.....then I read the reviews on this vacuum and though I'd try one last time. The first time we used it, we had to empty the cannister 4 times for just 1 room! Then used the pet paw on the sofa that we have refused to sit on for quite some time because of the hair.....the pet paw picked up the hair instantly!!! This is the best vacuum I have ever used.....keep your Kirby mom!!! Now my cat can stay!!!!!!

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A VACUUM AND HAVE PETS, BUY THIS VACUUM!!!
Okay, I just want to say I read reviews all the time before I buy big items and it has always been a great help. BUT this is the FIRST time I have EVER written a review about anything. But when it came to this vacuum I had to let everyone know to BUY IT!!
I have 2 big German Shepherds, 2 cats and 3 kids. So the hair and mess is always an ongoing battle. Our [...] finally crapped out and I am currently unemployed and couldn't afford to spend a lot on a new vacuum. So we had to look for a new vacuum and I found this one and the reviews were perfect.
The first time I used it, I had to empty the canister 4 times and I didn't even think the carpets were that bad. It cleans right up to the edges, picks up every piece of hair like I have NEVER seen any vacuum do before. The upholstery attachment actually SPINS the little beater bar and works like magic. There is also a telescoping duster that honestly I thought would be a joke, But that thing is soo nice. It's stored on the vacuum and the vacuum actually sucks from the bottom of the holder to activate (adds static) to the duster. Then after you dust with it, put it back in the holder and hit a switch and it sucks the dust out.
Only thing I can say it doesn't have is that you can't turn off the beater bar when you do bare floors. But I never use my vacuum on bare floors anyways, I prefer to sweep, so I don't care.
I have to say this again BUY THIS VACUUM, You will absolutely LOVE it!!

My husband recently bought this for me after I got sick of the old vacuum and fighting with the bags and I love it! We have a lab that sheds A LOT! Having a bag less vacuum saves so much time and it's easy to just dump in the trash and saves on buying bags! The canister fills up fast but the suction picks up a lot of dog hair! I can't believe how much there is! The power paw works great on the furniture too, attachments are easy to use. The vacuum is loud but it's a vacuum! So far I haven't had any problems with the belts or anything like that. I highly recommend, especially if you have pets!

...and that's the GOOD thing about it: the suction on this thing is just amazing! It picks up stuff from my carpets that I didn't know was even there! In fact, it tries to pick up the throw rugs themselves (gotta straddle them with my feet on either edge to keep them down). The edge cleaner works great too - gets me under those counter overhangs and along the walls like nothing else I've used. The floors haven't been this clean since the carpet was new! (Does a great job on the tile kitchen floor too.)
That's the good news. Now the not-so-good:
- The container doesn't hold enough "stuff". I have a long-haired American Eskimo dog whose hobby is shedding. My weekly weekend vacuuming gig ends up filling up the container so quickly that the vac loses suction - and when I remove the cup ends up spreading dirt and hair into the room and over the vac. My Dyson Animal could hold probably 10 times the amount this does. Too bad I had so many problems with that model (and eventually the motor died). A full cup also means having to remove and clean out the "prefilter" above it, which is no short messy job in itself.
- Hose is WAY too stiff - and short. Again, the Dyson had an incredibly LONG hose which was very flexible. The hose on this vac is so stiff, weirdly oriented, and short that the vac tips over way too often.
- Wire/plug is in an odd spot that causes me to frequently trip or run over it (maybe I'm just a spaz). The Dyson had this problem too. Hasn't anyone ever thought of putting some kind of retractable reel on their machine, kinda like those leashes that pull in at the flick of a finger? Guess not.
- Needs to be cleaned too frequently. Look, I don't mind having to clean a filter every now and again - the Dyson was at 6 month intervals - but every week? C'mon! I tried going to every 2 or 3 weeks but by that third week the vac loses most of its suction. Having to clean the sponge and filter pad every week is just plain ridiculous - and annoying.
- While I haven't had the problem of the belt breaking or the motot whining, it DOES seem like it's getting louder. Maybe it's just my imagination after reading the other reviews, I don't know. Still...
A couple of other things I *do* like: the pet hair attachment in the handle (though it tends to lose power pretty quickly), the dusting brush and cleaning system, and the fact this this rolls effortlessly.
All-in-all this vac is okay, but doesn't come close to the (3x-as-much) Dyson I used to have. I actually grew to hate the Dyson after a while since I had so many problems with it, but the Eureka has made me yearn for it. If it weren't for the fact that I asked for and received the Eureka as a gift I would have bought a replacement Dyson motor online. (Part of the problem was I had a brainfart about ordering the motor - the local repair place wanted over [........]for the repair but I later found the motor online for [.......].)
Toodles,

Decent Vacuum for the Price

I purchased this vacuum in order to replace my Hoover bag vacuum. I wanted something BAGLESS, with a HEPA filter, that would last a while & something for pet hair. I have one English Cocker Spaniel, a teenager & a preschooler, & I plan on getting a cat or two in the future. Shedding is not a problem, however we all have a lot of hair, so we all shed a bit.
I eagerly awaited the arrival. It came quite quickly. I ordered it on the evening of Friday, Nov. 30th & it arrived the afternoon of Tuesday, December 2. Excellent.
I took it out of the box & it only needed four screws (yay!). I attached the handle with two screws & the tool attachment with two screws (philips).
I turned it on & it picked up a tremendous amount of hair, hair that I didn't even know was there. I kept emptying the cup & it kept picking up fine dust & hair. The funny thing is, it doesn't feel like there is a any suction underneath the vacuum when I hold my hand there.
I, personally, wash the filters every time I use it. It's fast to do, taking less than five minutes. Let them air dry before returning them to the vacuum.
The vacuum does get hot at the bottom where the motor is. The owners manual says this is normal. I have a small rooms, but I vacuum thoroughly, so it takes me about 20 minutes per room.
The attachements are hit & miss. I think the feather duster is nothing more than a cute add on, as it doesn't "trap" or pick up any dust that I can tell. It just pushes it around (if at all).
The Pet Paw does a great job, though. It's got great suction (as apposed to the underside!) & the beater bar captures the hair & it's all gone in one or two passes. I hosted a rescue kitty for two weeks & prior to me, the cat was on a very poor diet & shed a LOT. She left a lot of hair on the back of my velvet couch. The pet paw removed her hair in a single pass.
I have had NO odor issues. This is a huge plus.
There are different versions of this vacuum, and each one seems to have a different review. This will be a great vacuum if it lasts a few years. While it's a lower-priced vacuum, I have high hopes :)

Ok so I've had this for a while, I guess about 6 months and when I first got it I wrote a raving review, now after all this time I' not so sure. When the dust cup is empty, and the filters are clean yes it has AWESOME suction, but, if either get full or dirty , forget it. Also ALL the clips to hold on the hose and attachments have broken off. Yes, like the others, it has gotten louder as time has gone on. Would i buy another? Probably not. I've always had Kenmores, to date for my downstairs, the Eureka is for upstairs in the bedrooms, and my lil Kenmore canister vac is about 10 years old and has never given me any trouble
