I use a Sony USB Drive like this on my Lenovo laptop. I use it to ready boost my operating system. This speeds it up and makes it so I can run more programs at one time. I can run 7 instances of a game at the same time with this USB drive connected. I can only run 5 instances without it connected. This means in SWGEmu (Star Wars Galaxies Emulator) I can have 7 characters logged in at the same time for testing for bugs or exploits.

If you use a USB device to improve your computers performance, it will have little space left for file storage, so you will need two of these USB devices. One for storage and one for ready boost. I also have Vista Premium so I do not know if ready boost works with XP. You can research it on the Microsoft website or Google.

The USB device also has to have the ready boost technology for it to improve your computer, Sony USB Drives come with it for free.

I transferred some files and pictures and it was extremely easy. I then misplaced it only to find it in the dryer after going through a wash and dry cycle. And it still works! No damage to any of the files or the unit. Thanks Sony!
