I was a little suspicious of any therapeutic value for this light but it was pretty and so I ordered it. Not only do I find it helps me with my asthma but it seems to provide some therapeutic value to my plants. The area next to this light is now called the "plant hospital". I've had many compliments on it's appearance.

The lamp emits a soft, orange-ish light and makes a great night light; however, I keep it on 24/7 to best obtain the other benefits of a crystal salt lamp. From what I've read, the heat from the bulb causes the salt to emit negative ions. These negative ions bond with the pollutants in the air (positive ions) and neutralize them making for a better environment in the room. You might want to read up on that info to see if you agree with it or not, but even if you don't agree, it's a beautiful light. I'm going to order another one to put in our computer room/office.

Crystal salt candle holder have a similar effect to the ionizer. However, the natural ionization of a crystal lamp cannot be compared to an ionizer.
