This was one of the items that we were most excited to give our 20 month old for Christmas. The concept seemed great. As soon as we took it out of the box, we knew it was poorly designed. The letters are difficult to fit into the mouth, especially for a child. The songs are not easily understood because the sound is pretty poor. The head of the crocodile should pop back up on it's own, but doesn't and needs to be just right in order to make the toy work correctly. Most surprising is the design of the latch for the stomach storage. It is difficult for an adult to open, and impossible for anyone under the age of 5! We kept the crocodile, because my daughter likes to feed the letter cookies directly into the stomach. This was a really cute idea that would have been a lot of fun had it been properly designed for its targeted age group. We bought the LeapFrog Fridge Phonics as a replacement for a letter teaching tool. Much better!

This toy is a wonderful educational product. I ordered two I liked them so much. The only thing I wish the item had was a 'grow with me' option, such as saying a word and getting a child to spell it with the letters provided.

We recieved this as a gift and I don't think I would have bought this otherwise. My son loves this toy but he needs me to fit the letters in the mouth. I'm pretty good about collecting up the letters once he's done playing with it, but it is really easy to lose the letters. And sometimes you put in a letter and the croc sings about a completly different letter, so I don't know how much help this would be in learning letters. This toy also runs through batteries pretty quickly if you leave it on all the time.
