The DISCONTINUED CECHE01 model PS3 80GB WAS backward compatible with PS2 and 1 games. The CECKxxx model will only play PS1 games (Great marketing there).
This 'new' PS3 80GB won't run any of your old PS2 or PS1 games.

The latest version, the PS3 Slim, still won't run any old version games, but runs much cooler with less fan noise (great for watching those Blu-ray movies!) and comes with a 120GB drive. A 10/15/09 search shows these sell for $... at other larger retailers- but none are listed here?

I was under the impression that the 80 GB PS3's were backwards compatable. I'm not sure if it's playstation or Target but I can't play my PS2 games like I wanted to. I'm very disappointed in this product.
