Extremely Pleased - and Important User Notes July 7, 2009 Reviewer:  Read More Books (Texas)  See all my reviews >

First, I'm really pleased - pleasantly surprised - with this purchase. Probably like many of your reading these reviews, I was concerned about some of the possible mechanical issues. I've worked with steam systems before as an engineer and have a healthy respect for disasters involving exploding anything. I read a couple reviews that made me concerned, and after reading the instructions thoroughly and using the espresso machine, I think I can understand how some of the issues have happened. Here's what I learned:

1. Read the instructions.
2. Follow the instructions regarding how fine (but not too fine) to grind your beans. Use a burr grinder for the best grind consistency. Blade grinders are incredibly inconsistent.
3. Be careful to not overfill it with the ground espresso.
4. Before you try steaming you need to wait until the blinking light stops blinking! (see #1 above... not that I still made that error...)
5. Thanks to another review - I micro waved my milk for a minute first and it works to speed up the process. You can't taste a difference.
6. I use Hershey's syrup to make a delicious mocha: two shots, milk, and some unknown amount of syrup that 'feels' like two pumps of chocolate..
7. It's not nearly as loud as we thought it might be. We can talk freely on the phone with it operating in the background. Our ice maker or bean grinder is much louder. It's the quietest kitchen appliance we have except for the toaster :).

Great Lattes April 27, 2009 Reviewer:  John (Arvada, Colorado)  See all my reviews >

I purchased an espresso machine from Starbucks in 2001 and loved it - I estimate that I had made over 5000 lattes with it until it broke yesterday.

After reading the reviews I bought the Mr. Coffee today and am happy to say that I'm enjoying my daily lattes once again.

Besides costing only a third of what I paid for my Starbucks machine, it took 8 1/2 minutes from start to finish to make one w/ my Starbucks and the Mr. Coffee makes it in 5. The espresso comes out in 3 nice layers as it should, the milk gets a nice foamy head and the finished product is as good as Starbucks. Although I've read a few complaints that it is loud, so far mine is very quiet.

My only complaint was that it didn't come with an instruction book, but I quickly downloaded one from mrcoffee.com and saved a tree (a very small one).

inexpensive pump espresso November 22, 2008 Reviewer:  matt See all my reviews >

Everything I read said to get an espresso machine with a pump rather than a steam unit. For this price is the least expensive pump machine out there. I've had it for a week now, and bought ground espresso along with it at the local target. Works great, tastes great, takes 2 minutes max to make. Stupid simple. Got some torani syrups on-line and now I'm all set. The pump is a little loud, but I'm guessing most are. Doesn't come with cups - but for lattes I just use coffee mugs, and make the froth in a creamer.

Great Machine for Price January 22, 2009 Reviewer:  Frequent online shopper "shannon.m" See all my reviews >

I bought this as a x-mas present for my husband, he loves espresso, its pretty good for [.......]. we have not had any problems with it so far. We got some espresso cups to go with it, its works great and my husband whose worked at a Starbucks says its makes good espresso and cappuccinos. We ground our own beans and its taste great. I would recommend to others, also we ordered online and shipping was super fast and nothing was broken.

Fantastic espresso for the cost June 18, 2009 Reviewer:  Coffee Lover "DeAnne" (Alabama)  See all my reviews >

Like others, I debated on purchasing this. I have searched and searched for an espresso machine that would be good and not cost me an arm and leg. I decided to chose Mr. Coffee brand. My espresso turns out perfect! The instructions were easy and the machine made two shots of espresso in less than 20 seconds. It also makes a nice creme on top of the espresso. I used Starbucks pre-grounded bold espresso roast and my beverage tasted just the same as if it was done at Starbucks. I caculated it and I would get my money back on this product in 2 months. It's worth it.

LOVE IT! May 6, 2009 Reviewer:  Latte Addict "Lee" (Abington, PA)  See all my reviews >

I just bought this machine today, and I love it! I'm already hyped up on caffine from using it. Very easy to use, and makes very tastey espresso. The first time I used it, it was VERY loud and shook a little but after two or three brews it became much quieter. The steamer makes amazing foam but as the other reviews mentioned, does not do a good job of heating the milk. I just microwave the milk for about a minute first and then steam it and it's perfect! I go out for coffee so much that I'm sure being able to make lattes at home will save me tons of money especially since this machine was so inexpensive. Great buy!

Great machine for the money! January 7, 2009 Reviewer:  Jill (Chicago, IL)  See all my reviews >

We were looking for a machine to tide us over until we can afford the "machine of our dreams". It's easy to use and the result is great! I've used more expensive machines and this ends up tasting just as good. The steamer (which is usually my biggest complaint) has a lot of power and is fast as well. Overall, for a big price you can't do any better.

Perfect espresso every time. December 9, 2008 Reviewer:  Kyle Demory "Kyle" (USA)  See all my reviews >

Stylish and simple. If you load up the basket with grinds the night before, you can have an espresso in the morning in less than one minute. Considering its size I was surprised with the amount of steam it generates. You can heat and froth 8 oz of milk in <90 seconds for the perfect latte. And, like another reviewer said, it's "stupid simple" to operate. Best kitchen appliance I've ever bought.

Excellent expresso if you don't mind the leaking July 24, 2009 Reviewer:  Doc K See all my reviews >

I was excited for expresso and this machine does a great job at making it (if you follow instructions). However, my machine leaks out of its top-front left corner (my right when looking at it). That wouldn't be a problem, but the tray below is not large enough to catch the leaking water and naturally, I had a mess of water on my counter. Is this a huge leak? No, but it is excessively drippy and mostly annoying. Although I like the expresso it makes, it's not worth the mess. I'm going to return this model & keep looking for a machine in this price range.

Leaks July 18, 2009 Reviewer:  Safety Kat See all my reviews >

I bought this product with one of the gift cards from my wedding. The first two weeks it worked great. Now it leaks from the bottom (where the electrical parts are) very quickly. A full resevoir will appear on my counter within about 30 seconds. I am currently trying to get this replaced. If you want this to work for more than two weeks, I would recommend spending slightly more money for a nicer one.
