This bed is great, I bought it in white and one in dark brown , both full size, for my daughters. YES, you do need two people to put it together and YES, it is heavy. That's why I rate it a 4 instead of a 5. I put it together but I needed my husband to lift all of the heavy parts and hold it in place while I attached it. It was a bit stressfull but I agree that the end resault is worth it. It was stressfull enough that neither my husband or I wanted to put the second one together so we hired someone to do it. (still worth it) My girls are 3 and 4 years old and this bed is low for them to get in and out of. It looks stylish but classic enough and sturdy enough so that they could use it for years. I got an off white faux suade padded head board for this bed frame and they look amazing together. We have had these beds for over a year and my girls jump on them all the time, my husband and I have both slept on them ( my husband is a big guy 230lbs.,6'2") and the bed is seriously just as good as new. I also like how the bottom of the bed is closed off so that dust bunnies, monsters, and sox don't end up under there.

[...] The first time it was shipped, the piece was damaged in transit. [...] The replacement arrived and was missing both a manual and several parts. [...]

Overall Great Bed

We bought this bed for my 14 year old stepdaughter. It goes perfectly in her room with her bright colors and stark white blinds. It went together easily and looks great! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it is a little too low to the ground. It could use another couple inches on the pedestal. But she seems to be happy with it and so are we!

This bed looks nothing like it does in the picture once it is put together. Seems to be cheap materials, and definitely not aesthetically pleasing. When we tried to push it over towards the wall after assembling it, some of the screws started coming out of the top boards. I would NOT recommend this product to anyone.

My husband and I put this bed together in 30 minutes flat. The directions were clear, nothing was damaged during shipping, and all of the holes lined up! It looks great, feels great and you can't beat the price. I would highly recommend this bed to others.

This item comes in a compact rectangular box but don't be fooled, it's HEAVY! All of the pieces were in the box,all were labeled correctly, and the instructions were in the box. Here are the problems: The screw heads are not that deep and the particle board is dense so you really have to push hard as you turn the screws and even then they don't go all the way in. The trim that borders the bedframe does not cover the edges of the particle board, so the nice neat look you see in the picture is not the one you get. I, luckily, have carpeted floors, and though the platform is almost impossible to push on the carpeting, it's better than ruining wood floors with rough material. Oh, they give you a solution for this, little 5/8 inch squares of felt with peel-off backing to stick on the "wood". I can't see that solution lasting for long...
To complete my project, I will need to borrow a power drill to get the screws all the way in because right now, the trim is wobbling back and forth and with one rollover in bed onto the edging, I can see the half-set screws pulling right out.
For the price, [...] I guess I got what I paid for. When we move to our next apartment, this piece will not be on the truck.
One more thing, Target graciously tells you it's a "paper covering" and that is exactly what it is. The instructions tell you not to put anything with water or ammonia (like Windex) on it, or the "laminate" will bubble up and peel off.

Okay, this product is truly awful. The manufacturer failed to include instructions and when I finally got a hold of them they sent them to me in French! Southshore is the brand name and the instructions were so terrible that there was actually a huge miskake with building the platform. It was put together backwards after carefully following the disorganized instructions. Cheap wood, incorrect instructions and I will no longer be purchasing one in white! Definitely do not purchase this, it's worth a little extra money for something with a lot less headache.

We got a full size platform frame for our daughter. It shipped fine and assembly went well, but can be a little tricky. So I guess I give the product 5 stars, and the assembly 3 stars, but I think the end result far outweighs the work of putting it together.
You need two people to assemble it, because someone needs to hold the sides together while the other one screws them together. It is very important that you read the instructions first and follow them, of course! Everything needs to line up correctly for all the pieces fit together right. The top boards need to be centered perfectly for the edging to come together properly. But after all this, the effort is worth it, once it's done and in use!
The best part about a platform bed is that you only need a top mattress. It's stylish and when combined with the proper decor, can be used for kids, teens, or adults. We paired it with the white monterey bookcase headboard (see review on that for more details), and they work beautifully together.
Our daughter has been using this for a year now, and it is still as good as new. I think it was a great buy, and I hope you found this review helpful!
