This is an amazing product. Yes, there are lots of children "leashes" out there, but this one doesn't give that appearance at all. It is very stylish and the child thinks they are wearing a watch just like Mommy or Nana. I bought this product especially for a trip to Disney World with my granddaughter, but used it on a trip to the Outlets Mall in Destin first.
We received many comments on how nice that was. The grandbaby was not at all upset about being attached. She was thrilled to be able to walk all by herself. This product allows for independence of the child.
Joan Lunden outdid herself on this one!
I would definately recommend this product!

i have a 20 month old and an 8 month old and i find this product to be a lifesaver....i DO "keep an eye" on my kids but i only have 2 arms and think the safety of my children is more important than what other people think about the appearance of the product. it's not meant to babysit a child, but it is wonderful to help keep "runners" close.

Good concept, but a child can take it off too easily

The Kinderkord has a few glitches that need to be worked out:
* If your child can undo velcro, they will be able take off their wristband easily.
* The hooks do not retract fully into the wristband units. They were also easily undone by my toddler in just seconds.
* The nylon cord (1/16 inch thick) has started fraying and showing signs of wear after just three outings.
* Last but not least - the fine print "use at your sole risk." Please be advised of extensive disclaimers on the manufacturer's website - the fine print is among the longest I've seen on any child's product.

My son got out of the wrist thing 2 times and then broke the cord keeper. He is only 15 months old. I wish I had listened to what other parents said. This was not what they say it was. Needless to say we are going to target in the morning to return it.

What gives some parents the idea that it is alright to judge others. I personally never thought I would be a mother that would look to a harness/saftey device such as this, but I also never thought it would be so hard to trust people in general. We live in a time where children are being victimized and abused. I am happy to hear that Jessica has never had an issue with her child running from her and had to feel the desperation/panic when unable to find them because they are hiding. Seriously, good parents keep their children safe and don't worry about what ignorant parents think when they see such devices. We should all be so lucky to have such wonerful kids that don't ever do anything that makes them kids. Good luck Jessica, maybe you should spend a little more time worried about the safety of your children and let me worry about mine! As for this specific device, my daughter is very clever and can also undo the velcro!

My husband and I just recently got into an argument over this product, his mother bought us one when our son turned 4yrs old. He thought we should use them and I said no. I personally just find any child leashes distasteful and revolting. And this one in particular looks even more like a pair of extended hand cuffs. My personal opinion is that if your not keeping a close enough eye on your kids and they run loose that does not mean you have the right to put them on a leash there your kids not your pet dog.
