I bought this for my 18 month old niece. She is just starting to use plates and utensils and loves to push her plate around and make a big mess. This set is great because it stays put and she loves to see the smiley face before I put the removable tray center in. And I love that the itensils stick into place so there's never a need to search through the drawers to find them and they're small enough for her to grasp in her tiny fists.

We purchased this because our 1-year old likes to flip his plate over and throw it on the floor. The design of this seems to solve for that problem. However, while the white insert is secure, little baby fingers can still lift the "placemat" portion of the plate. It's still a GREAT plate and we would recommend it. The utensils are great as well. Note: if you cut up food in this plate, you will scratch the plastic.
