Fantastic car seat, MUCH better than the Graco Nautilus! February 12, 2009 Reviewer:  Crunchy Mama "Crunch Crunch" (New England)  See all my reviews >

We compared this to the Graco Nautilus and like the Frontier FAR more than the Nautilus. It is better made, has a higher weight capacity, and best of all, it isn't made in CHINA like the Graco seats are. I like trusting my son's safety to Britax, made right here in America.

Our son is 28 months old, 36 3/4 inches tall, and 33 pounds. We bought this seat because we just turned him forward facing after he reached the rear-facing limit in his Britax Boulevard (extended rear-facing is the safest way!). We are still using the Boulevard, but with another baby on the way we wanted the convenience of not having to move his car seat between our two vehicles, and we knew he would outgrow the Boulevard eventually anyway, likely before he reaches the 65 pound limit of the Boulevard. The Frontier also has the added benefit of three crotch strap depths, whereas the Boulevard only has one. With a boy, this was an important consideration. The adjustment lever to loosen the straps is also hidden out of the reach of little hands (but easy for me to adjust), another positive change over the Boulevard.

The Frontier was super easy to install, took me only 2-3 minutes, and the Rushmore color goes well with our black and grey car interiors. Our son fits well in it, and it fits well in our vehicle. The only downfall is the cupholders seem a little difficult to operate, but I guess time will tell. Target had the best price on this seat [...] with free shipping and I was able to use a registry completion code (do a google search for coupon codes) and saved an extra 10%, so even with paying tax it was still cheaper than anywhere else. I also like that if there is a problem with the seat, we can return it to our local Target store.

Odyssey Drivers, Beware! March 26, 2009 Reviewer:  S. Bowman "singing and strumming" Real Name (Louisville, KY USA)  See all my reviews >

I am the mother of an almost 3 1/2 year old who is very tall for her age and has outgrown her harness carseat. I was reluctant to put her in a booster, as harness seats seem so much safer and more secure. Having only heard great things about Britax car seats, I decided to make the hefty investment and try the Frontier so that she could be harnessed for several more years. The seat appears well built and sturdy, but as the driver of a 2009 Honda Odyssey, I have had to return the Frontier. After several attempts to install the seat using both the short and long belt path installation instructions, I could not obtain a secure fit in the second row seat. (FYI -- for children over 40 pounds using the harness, installation must be with the seat belt, not LATCH) I finally called Britax to find out if others have encountered trouble with installations in Odysseys. They stated that the Frontier was tested in the Odyssey, but that a secure fit was only obtained in the third row. As the parent of only one child, it is highly impractical to banish her to the third row and to climb back there myself to adjust her harness. So, I returned the seat and my daughter has been happily and securely riding in a high-back booster for the past few days. For those contemplating a Frontier, I recommend that you try before you buy, or at least ensure that the seat you purchase can be returned if it does not fit your vehicle.

Simple the Best! February 19, 2009 Reviewer:  L B Broussard See all my reviews >

I recently purchased the Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat, and I am completely satisfied with my purchase. Installing it is not as easy as the Roundabout, but as long as you read the instructions in the manual carefully it is not that hard to install. Took approximately 5 minutes.

When I purchased this product I made sure it was not one of the recalled ones, but even if it was all I would need would be an extra latch supplied by Britax.

Britax is the best in car seat safety for you little bundle of joy, who is more than likely going through the terrible two's or three's.

FANTASTIC CAR SEAT! February 23, 2009 Reviewer:  Mom to XY & XX "Emily M" (Colonial Heights, VA)  See all my reviews >

I bought two of these car seats for our almost 4-year-old son who is average in height & about 38 lbs. He was growing out of his other car seat and the crotch buckle was too short, so we were looking for a seat that will give him plenty of room, especially as he grows. He has a fantastic amount of room to grow and he'll easily be able to wear the 5 point harness for a good few more years as there is plenty of belt length left as well. It is easy to adjust the back, simply pulling the red handles to raise it up. My husband installed both seats and he said it was a bit difficult, but if you kneel in the seat and then pull to tighten you can secure it easier. We have two Britax seats for our younger daughter (Diplomat & Marathon) and LOVE the padding it has, especially on the long rides to visit family in Michigan (we're in Virginia). I am very pleased with the purchase. Though they are a bit more pricier, you cannot beat the safety and if we can use them for another 3-4 years (including the booster) it comes down to less than [..] a year or [..] per month! (I purchased mine when they were on sale.) A great investment for my child and my piece of mind!

Perfect for the 2007 Honda Odyssey! No problems installing! July 26, 2009 Reviewer:  Jeff Owen Real Name (Nashville, TN United States)  See all my reviews >

I read some reviews regarding this car seat and the Honda Odyssey that concerned me. I tried it out, anyway, since this has the greatest weight limit for a harness and then goes on as a booster seat, not to mention the great name of Britax.

Initially, I had a problem installing using both the long and short methods (long didn't fit and short wouldn't hold it tight enough). Then, I read the directions (didn't make sense that Britax would overlook one of the most popular vehicles for families with small children - the Odyssey). The shoulder strap needs to go inside the seat (behind the headrest area), which saves you a few inches on the strap. After adjusting the seatbelt at the door on the van to lower that as far as it would go, I was able to install the long belt method with strap left to spare and the seat is not going anywhere.

This seat seems solid and comfortable and no bigger than the Evenflo Triumph seat we just replaced, as far as space on the seat goes. I hope this information is helpful, particularly for those of you looking to install in a Honda Odyssey.

Great purchase! September 6, 2009 Reviewer:  Dana "Dana" (Raleigh, NC)  See all my reviews >

I purchased this car seat after my son had outgrown his Britax Boulevard car seat. This car seat fits my son comfortably now and can adjust easily as he grows. I am totally pleased with the purchase. Easy to install and my son prefers to ride in this seat as opposed to the Evenflo booster we have in my husbands car. As with all Britax seats, there is significant head and neck support, especially for sleeping children. I am totally sold on Britax products as my childs primary car seat. Although a little higher priced than most seats, you really get what you pay for!!

Poor fit July 8, 2009 Reviewer:  Pennington Mom (Pennington, NJ)  See all my reviews >

We have both the Roundabout and Marathon car seats and have been very happy with them so we thought that the Frontier would also work for us. However, we could not get it to fit properly in our Prius and could not put it in the Rabbit because it was so deep that the front of it touched the center console in the center back seat and nearly touched the backs of the seats in either side seat. My husband put his full weight on the seat to try to tighten it adequately in the Prius but still couldn't tighten it enough to keep it from moving around.

The 1st Britax Product We've Been Disappointed With! August 15, 2009 Reviewer:  Mom to Many Small Children (Colorado, USA)  See all my reviews >

I am so disappointed to be writing a not-so-great review for a Britax product! This is our 3rd Britax car seat and the only one we have been disappointed with. We love our other 2 Britax convertible seats. It's as though Britax stepped it up on the quality and features of the seats for younger ones but then skimped on this one. Here's why:

The fabric is not the greatest quality. We've had this seat for only 2 months and already the black mesh material is fraying and piling just from ordinary wear. The sand-colored material stains very easily and you can't just take this cover off to wash it like you can the other Britax seats. It looks like it's a year or two old and it's brand new! Also, the cup holders don't fully extend and fit very few common sippy cups, making them virtually useless.

The buckles always slide down deep into the seat corners and it's difficult for us to grasp them to buckle, not to mention that it's nearly impossible for my 3 1/2 year old to do. There isn't that nifty little velcro feature that exists on other Britax models that keeps the belts held to the side when you are getting your child in. The belts are more flimsy than our other Britax seats.

We have a 2006 Honda Odyssey and while it certainly is possible and safe to install, it isn't as easy as the other seats we have. This one is HEAVY and we avoid transfering it to other cars at all costs because it's more difficult to install.

That being said, the actual safety of the seat is likely just fine. The armrests are a nice feature. Quite frankly, I wish we would have spent less money on a different brand. I hate giving Britax a negative review because I traditionally love their products, but I have to say, they missed the mark on this one.

UPDATE: We finally grew sick of this seat and despite having just spent lots of $ on it, we just purchased an Evenflo (also from Target) that is more of a traditional booster seat. It fits a 3 1/2 year old much better.

Disappointed June 3, 2009 Reviewer:  Sarah's mommy (Long Island, NY)  See all my reviews >

I have had the Marathon for over 2 years and love it. I really wanted to love this one. It doesn't feel secure in the seat with the LATCH. I think it's the angle of the straps, but I couldn't (yes, I read directions and did it correctly) get it tight enough. My daughter didn't like to sit in it. The cup holders are useless. Not enough room by the door to open the one, and if your seat curves, the other won't open all the way either. I returned it and got the Recaro Young Sport and am much happier.

Great carseat April 9, 2009 Reviewer:  K.S. (Houston)  See all my reviews >

I actually purchased this seat for my cousin after I purchased the Frontier Rushmore for my son. He has had his carseat for about 6 months and it is great. I have no complaints about this seat. It is really roomy for him. This is the perfect last seat for your child (I hope).
