I'm still waiting for my baby to arrive. I doubt I'll remember to write a review after he gets here and we actually use the carseat, so I'll give my 2 cents at this point. :)
I chose this carseat after reading reviews for Baby Trend Flex Loc carseats on multiple retailers' websites and Consumer Reports. It is rated high for safety and is priced in the mid-range.
Here is what I like about it so far:
- Lighter-weight than other comparable carseats
- Straps are adjustable from the front, so you can do it with the baby still in the seat. This is especially handy when you have a really cold day and have to dress baby in more layers than usual.
- Buckles are easy to release which will allow for quick removal of baby when needed.
- Multiple handle positions - These seats are awkward to carry around, so it's nice to have options.
- Nice accessories - head rest for new babies and "boot" for cold/wet weather.
- Material - I live in NC where summers are hot and winters are generally mild. I was debating between this model and the "Phantom" model. I chose this one because the material is a lighter color and it's more of a nylon-like material, which I thought would best fit our climate. I think it will also be easier to clean. The Phantom model is mostly black and feels kind of like suede.
Here is what I don't like:
- The buckle between the baby's legs is a "puzzle lock" style. This means that you have to fit the 2 pieces together before can you slide them in the buckle. I have some experience with puzzle locks and know they can be a bit of a challenge. Clothing can get caught in them easily and people who do not use the buckles everyday (ie, grandparents) often give up and ask me to buckle the child in. This is a minor inconvenience given the other benefits of the seat. The buckles are very easy to un-do, which I thought was more important since there will be times when I'll want to remove the baby quickly for feeding, changing, etc.

I've used this for my daughter for 3 months and I love it! It's easy to carry and get in and out of the base. The straps are super easy to adjust so you can go from thick coat to light jacket without cursing! The only thing that might be a turn-off is that I can see she will grow out of it pretty fast (her feet are already starting to reach the edge), but my older children only lasted 6-8 months in a carrier anyway because they were too heavy to lug around in the seat. I have seen other reviews online complain about the release buttons, but i have never had a problem with them. Compared to the handle on an Evenflo we had, this is a breeze!

I agree this is so worth it. It is very durable and easy to handle. My twins love it! it rocks easy, lover the hand bar and it stationary when not using in the car. The base was easy to install in the car and it just a matter of nap and go when on the road.I love the adjustable head rest and the traps were easy to adjust. The 5 point harness really works.I was side swiped by another car and my babies were secure and never budged. My twins are 17lbs now, so I soon have to look for something to accomodate their weight the max is 22lbs on this. I love it for the 5 months I have used it now.

We purchased this car seat and have been using it for more than a couple weeks for our new born baby girl. I really like the fact that it is stylish and functional. I love the color scheme! The only issue of concern was the head support, unfortunately it is useless. My poor little girl's head was flopping from side to side during our first ride home. What we did was we purchased a separate support for her head (about [..]) that works much better.

As with all baby carriers, this comes with one base. The bases for sale are in case you want extras so you can move your seat from car-to-car without having to reinstall the base.

liked this carseat, the handle bar made it easy for me to carry around. it wasnt very heavy, and that was a plus b/c i'm kindda on the weak side.

the only thing is that my daughter is a big girl, and she was too long for it before she hit her first birthday. other than that i loved it.

it got four stars because i had to buy a cushion for it so it was softer.

i'm looking into getting another for my second baby.

I researched this product alot before I purchased it. It has great reviews and was on consumer reports list. I like the system overall. I also have the matching stroller, the play yard and 3 bases.

My only complaints are that the head support isn't great for a newborn, so keep that in mind. Even when the base is set at max recline, my daughters head still needed a little bit of help.

Also, I am not a huge fan of the puzzle lock seat belt. It makes it more difficult to buckle sometimes.

For those of you that are concerned about the front of the base not being secure, that is how it is suppose to be. Our fire department says that is so the car seat rocks on impact, and reduces the impact on the baby.

I was looking and looking for a car seat that would be safe and comfortable for my baby. I've been using this carseat for about 2 weeks now and it is comfortable for my baby. it was easy to install and it's easy to remove the seat from its base. The handle is very comfortable. the base is pretty stable. I tethered it down from the front of the base to the back of the chair just to make it more secure.

I just ordered this car seat for our baby boy due in October. I am very excited to use it. The colors are very bright! Pictures do not do justice at all!! Spending the extra money to have it shipped was well worth it!

We used this car seat for our first daughter. It was easy to attach/detach from the base. It was great that you can also put the seat in any car without the base. A little heavy to carry around but having the coordinating stroller to place the car seat on was great. One thing that was a little annoying was that one side of the canopy cover kept coming loose. Other than that I'm pleased and will be using this seat for baby #2.
