I have been on a journey for the Holy Grail of Cribs! The day I decided to do a modern nursery I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I looked for hours upon hours online for two-tone (light and dark color) modern cribs, that were "reasonable" in price. Most modern furniture is VERY expensive. Since it is not a popular furniture choice for babies it is hard to find at the usual baby retailers. I have spent hours tracking down "out of sock" items at the other major retailers. After talking with store managers, out of state managers and manufacture reps., "out of stock" means OUT OF LUCK!! I almost drove 7 hours to get a crib for goodness sakes!
I looked for reviews on this crib for months, and until the last couple of days, there were none. To add to my concern, there was also no way to actually look and touch this crib since it is not sold in the stores. All these factors scared the heck out of us. My husband had to force me to pull the trigger on buying these items because I had such a bad feeling and had looked for so long that I was officially confused. Well, when I finally did buy it, to my surprise, they were even more on sale!
The ship date said 4-6 weeks. Well try 1 1/2 weeks! I screamed when the UPS guy showed up. My dad and husband put the dresser and crib together in around three hours. The directions were straight forward all the parts and pieces were present. The predrilled holes were perfect and my Dad commented on how he could not believe all the screws for support. We decided to use wood glue for the drawer bottoms for extra support (they are a little flimsy).
Once it was all put together we could not believe how nice and clean it looked. It is also very sturdy. We are over the moon with these pieces...and for around $500 for BOTH!!! We are extremely happy with the Dwell product line, especially for the price. All that's left is for our baby to arrive and try it out.
FYI: 1) Need to buy rails for coverable bed separately. 2) The sides of the crib (dark wood area) have two cut outs not shown in the picture but they just add to the beauty.

Great Value for the Price

As many of the other reviewers, my wife and I wanted a modern nursery. And of course all the modern furniture is very, very expensive. We searched and searched. But baby was coming soon and we needed something?
So we went with this crib and the changing table. We were a little skeptical because it said it was out of stock and would take 6 weeks. But it came in about 1 1/2 weeks. So that was good.
Everything was in the box and packaging was good enough so there was no damage. I think there might be one small scratch but nothing major. It did smell a little bit, but if you take it all out of the box and let it air out, it is fine. It took about a day for the smell to go away? Went together easily and instructions were pretty easy really?
A couple things to note, as mentioned there is NO conversion rail included. Actually not even sure where to get it. Hoping it will come out?
Also, have not seen anyone else mention this, but there is no 'lid' or 'cap' for the drawers. When the crib is in the highest position, you can look right down into the drawers. I guess if you had a long skirt, About 16", it would hide it. But being modern, we did not want the frilly skirt? I made a piece of wood to cover it and it works fine.
Also, we painted the drawer fronts to customize it to our color scheme of Orange, Grey, & Brown. I just painted the drawer fronts before putting them together with standard spray paint. It gave it a really custom look and was very easy.

I guess I lucked out and ordered this crib after all of the back order/shipping issues. It arrived (along with the matching changing table) 5 days after I ordered it! It was well packaged and none of the pieces were damaged. I put this together myself while my husband was working. It took me about 2 1/2 hours at 8 months pregnant! The directions were clear and I received all necessary parts. The crib parts fit together securely and tightly, which makes it super sturdy feeling. Some cribs that I shook and tested in stores seemed rickety. This one is not! It is really great looking put together. The side and rails are very solid and it looks much more expensive than it is! A friend of mine who just had a baby and recently went through all the crib shopping guessed that it was a $600 crib! I think this is a great value for the price and would definitely recommend it.
3 tips for assembly:
-The side rails fit really tight, so wait to tighten your bolts for the frame pieces until the side rails are in.
-The bolts have some residue on them (grease or something) that gets on your fingers and then rubs onto the white pieces while assembling. It is easy to clean, but I kept a damp rag with me to minimize all the wiping down!
-The stickers do not come off cleanly, but "goo gone" will get the job done and does not damage the finish.

our local taget store is now carrying this crib along with the changing table.I was so happy when I saw it so we would not have to pay shipping by purchasing online. The crib, changing table, and dresser are such great quality and very heavy. I am rather disappointed in the previous reviews bc I feel a review should be about the item and not about shipping time. This is a very popular crib and even though it stinks to have the item be on backorder...that does not warrant 2 stars! When I read a review I want to know about the product and not about your anger towards the actual store.

I tried to buy this crib at a local Target (because I read the review that they had ordered one six weeks ago and still hadn't received it). They had a lot of product tags on display and wsa very excited to see it was available in the store. Took the tag to get checked out and was told it was out of stock. Came home and decided to email Target to see if there was another store that may have it and now they tell me it is not available and it is discontinued...Yet, it is still on the website! Very dissapointing.
Just wanted to update, my daughter called around and we found a Target that had 2 cribs. They put one on hold for 24 hours and we made a special trip but we got the crib!!!

We really like the Dwell items from Target, and the look of this crib was no exception. I'd like to be able to give it a higher rating because it looks fantastic in person. If you are a fan of Netto Collection but not their prices, this is a good compromise, looks-wise.
The downside is the construction is fairly lightweight. The mattress is supported by a weird spring setup. The result is that the bed stays REALLY bouncy (which is not good for a baby). The drawers below the bed are perfect for linens, etc, but they do not have a TOP so dust and stuff fall into them.
Our solution was to buy some 1/8" fibreboard and put it on top of the spring support. It made the bed far less bouncy. And we did the same for the drawers -- put in a small ledge around the base and set a piece on top to cover them. The result was a crib better suited to our needs.
The finish is the only other "bad" part. We put a crib mobile which clamps onto the side on. I moved it once and noticed the plastic clamp had "bitten" into the wood of the crib and removed the finish. This was surprising because the clamp wasn't that tight, but baby had moved the mobile some and it rubbed the finish off.
If they would use a better finish and put in the board as we did, it would be a 5-star bed.
Instructions for assembly were decent, not another store quality but good enough.

I am having my first baby, so I'm one of those crazy women who went to every baby store in town inspecting every single crib to find one that is just right. I was the one shaking the guard rails to see if they were solid enough to withstand a hysterical toddlers grasp. With that said, when I saw this crib online, it was the exact style I had been looking for that I couldn't find anywhere! The perfect mixture of modern without going space age and just masculine enough for my soon-to-be little boy. I knew I was taking a risk because I couldn't see the product, but after looking in so many stores I decided to risk the (price) in shipping to possibly have the crib of my dreams. Thank goodness I did! The crib is made in Vietnam and packaged so carefully that every part came in perfect shape. It was assembled in about 3 hours and all the pieces and directions were very clear. Once set up the quality was fantastic and it felt very sturdy and like a very good hard wood. It is true that the drawers don't have a top, but most bedding sets, including mine, come with a skirt which covers the drawers anyways so it's not a problem. You could always make your own drawer covers quickly out of wood like a reviewer did below if you are not using a skirt. Oh, I was also worried about shipping because of previous reviews, but this crib seems to be back in normal manufacturing production as I ordered my crib on 8/26 and it arrived on 9/11, so it seems to be taking only 2-3 weeks at this current time period. Anyways, I'm so ecstatic that I had to leave a review even though I'm not usually the type to do those things. Yay! for finding such a great quality crib at such a great price! Now I can use the saved money on other things like this overpriced elephant lamp i'm eyeing from potterybarnkids LOL. Happy crib hunting fellow parents-to be!!

Back ordered and Toddler rail

I called the manufacturer and they said the toddler rail won't be available until Sept, and they will not know how much it costs until then. Here is the manufacturers info:

Also, Target has this crib on back order, so they will not get it in their wear house for another 2-4 weeks, and then have it shipped to you...so it can take 6-8 weeks

After weeks of thinking about it and researching other options, I finally pulled the trigger on this crib and changer. It arrived super fast - 1 1/2 weeks or so. I couldn't be happier with it - especially for the price! It took my husband about 3 hours to put both pieces together. All parts were there nicely organized and he didn't exactly need the instructions to put it together. Both feel sturdy and are even better looking than I expected. There were a few small gashes on 1. one of the insides of the crib drawer, 2. one side of the crib - but really, I paid less than bigger price for BOTH, so I can not complain.
The only reason I am giving it a 4 is because I wish that it came with the toddler bed conversion rail - then again, I didn't pay a lot, so I can not expect it.

I bought this crib after thinking about it for 6 months. I do have a few issues with the crib. The "first edition" was a one sided one hand release drop rail. I am assuming that this was changed after storkcraft the original manufacturers had their massive recall. Since then the "2nd edition" is made by another company. [...] In order to convert the crib to the day bed or toddler bed you need separate rails( by the way there is no mention anywhere in the instructions about it converting into a full sized bed.)This is to be expected except that the purchase of the crib does not come with them, (okay not too bad), but nowhere on the site can I find a place to purchase them. Without these converting rail pieces the metal mattress frame does show a bit.
There are a few things that are a little annoying in terms of design. Where the rails attach to the headboard and footboard the bolts and their pre-drilled holes are clearly visible. The pictures do not show this. There is also the smell of paint when you first open the box, but let it air out for a day or two and it's fine.
It's fairy easy to assemble, I did within 2 1/2 hours. Structurally it seems to be sound. The dark wood areas are real wood where as the white is the composite wood. the paint job is done fairly well for something massed produced. I personally have did not find something with the style and price like this crib. I had checked out other cribs, but I would rather of saved the money on this purchase. I mean it is only a crib. Overall disappointed in the beginning, but happy in the end.
