I had a DVD player go bad in the living room so we got this to take it's place. At first I was worried that it wouldn't play certain DVD's because of the price, and I have a Panasonic that's really picky when it comes to types of media. This guy plays EVERYTHING... DVD - DVD-R - DVD+R - DVDRW and even Dual Layer DVD's! Most other older players freeze or stop when using Dual Layer media right at the 2nd layer of the DVD. With this Memorex you can't even tell where the seam is and it continues to play.

The only drawback is the distance that the remote can control it. Plus it's not really ALL region because I tried a disc from Japan and it was a no go. Other then that no problems at all. I'm satisfied with it.

This is the most compact dvd player ever. Shows a great picture and easy to use. The price is the best ever makes me want to buy another. Try it you will like it.

I have had this DVD player for over a year and a half and it has been working fine...no problems thus far. It works good for a cheaper DVD player

Nothing fancy about this one, but what do you expect for the priace? I got it to replace an older model that was having problems with some of the menus of the newer DVDs. It worked fine with nothing unusual about it. I don't recommend it as your primary DVD player, but if you are looking for an inexpensive, compact model for a bedroom or office, this one fits the bill just fine.

This player seemed to play just about any disc, even those so scratched our higher end home theater system wouldn't play them. Didn't seem to have the remote issues other have, though it was used in a childs bedroom from about 10 feet away.

After about a month and a half, it started refusing to play any disc, with the "incorrect disc type" error. It seemed as if the motor that spins the disc stopped working.

Thank goodness for Target's 90 day return policy.

Unless you're seriously looking for an ultra cheap player that may or may not last more than a few months, I wouldn't reccomend this.

We get a lot of burnt dvds and most havent played on our other players, but this one plays everything. It is small and fits under our tv (42" LCD) The remote is really tiny compared to others, but it works just fine! We havent had any problems thus far. Great price too!!!

As far as DVD players go, this Memorex appears to be a decent basic DVD player. It plays just about all DVDs & CDs including DVD+R DL disks, MP3 & JPEG files on a CD or DVD. It also comes with a small basic remote. It has at least 2 ways to connect it to a TV or monitor. As far as a basic DVD player for home use, it does everything you should need. To me the only real annoying part of it is the "red" power off light that stays on when it's not being used.

Bought this yesterday, am returning it today. The remote control won't work if you're more than six feet away! Brand new batteries. I should listen to my wife's advice, "we are not so rich we can afford to buy cheap stuff!".

When it didn't work with my new tv, I first thought it was the tv. Then I tried it with my other tv, and it still didn't work. By "not working" I mean that it showed a split screen with no sound on both of them! Definitely going to return this!

Right out of the box it wouldn't play right. That's if it would play at all. Also, the remote is useless if your more then two feet away from the player. 0.0
