Not for long term use, September 7, 2006 The automated litter box is the single best invention for cat owners that I know of. That being said, there are better choices out there than the Littermaid. Our first one broke within a week. The next one (we got the store to allow us to trade-in) worked better, but it still wasn't exactly what we wanted. You absolutely have to use a high quality litter. The cheap stuff will not work. At all. And you cannot use any of the crystal-type brands. And it's noisy. Ours can be heard in the next room. And the motor that drives the scoop keeps going out. We eventually trashed ours after about a year of hassles and have moved on to different brands. And $100 is a pricey invesetment for only a year of clean litter.

BBQ Fan with Light

Not very convenient, September 7, 2006 I bought this fan/light for a camping trip this summer. I was very disappointed. First, it is very difficult to insert the batteries and it runs only on batteries, there is no attachable power suply cord or anything like that. Then, it takes a lot of odd shaped batteries (the big ones, C's I think). By the time you put the batteries in (which you need a screwdriver for) the lamp is getting very heavy. Then, the lighting part of it is fairly small. I wish I could return this item, but we broke it trying to install the batteries. I do not recommend this item to anyone.

ScoopFree Automatic Litter Box - White/ Purple
 |
|
The best on the market, September 7, 2006 This really is the best automatic litterbox on the market right now. And we've tried a few now. Yes, the refill cartridges can get pricey, but you really don't have to change them that often. The only downside to this machine is that because the litter cartridges are disposable, my cats can claw through the bottom of the cardboard. We easily solved this problem by throwing some cheap plastic between the litter and the cardboard and haven't had any problems yet.
