Swamp Cooler BUST, July 26, 2009 I just want to get across to you that this product in no way shape or form an air conditioner or even a fan for that matter. I would describe it as an air mover.
There are so many problems with the air cooler that I can't even figure out where to start...
1. there's no consistent air flow with the fan. it'll blow for 10 seconds then stop. In an oscillating pattern
2. the only way to really cool the air is to add massive amounts of ice to the water pan. this will cool about one square foot of space. no joke
3. once you had the ice and begin cooling your 1 square footage of space, you'll begin to notice the air cooling system is leaking. well it's not exactly leaking any water. the problem is the cold water your adding to the pan is not isolated, therefore the cold water creates condensation, which causes the cooling system to drip all over the floor.
So now you have a dripping, oscillating fan that's able to cool your closet space. after about an hour, you'll have to drain the room temperature water and add more ice water. this alone will take up 15 minutes of your time. now if you forget this very important 15 minute step, ever hour by the hour, your once air cooler, will quickly become a SWAMP COOLER or HUMIDIFIER. now any sensible person knows that there's nothing worse than humid warm air. What I'm trying to say here is that the water sitting in the pan at the base of the fan, raises the humidity of your room. Basically the room your trying to cool becomes a room that is still warm, but now warm and sticky with a puddle on your floor.
let me save you a huge hassle of buying and then returning this product, and just go ahead and NOT buy this product. you'll thank me later
