Jet engine, November 10, 2008 Our Pediatrician recommended we use a cool mist humidifier instead of the warm mist (which I have used without any issues since I was pregnant- my daughter is now 6). We choose this because it was the moderately priced unit. It did have a strange smell when we first started using it- eventually the smell does fade. However - On low - after running all night - it barely used any water. On high it sounds like a Jet Engine. But in order for it to put any moistier in the air you have to keep it on high. My warm mist humidifier would be empty by morning. Very unhappy- hopefully I can find something a little better.
