Woah! Check It Out! My Carpet Is Green?, February 3, 2008 Full marks for this device. Reasonable in price, simple enough to use, sturdy enough to be lifted by the handle with out plastic creaking and bending, small enough to be at home in my 670 ft/sq apartment, enough finger space and detachable panels for cleaning inside the device and its tanks, and does it's job well enough to surprise one about what one's rugs actually did look like before a year or two of use.
In short, it's enough to warrant my 5 stars; and that's coming from a bachelor who wears black soled hiking lugs on his carpet, keeps a almost black cat who sheds fur like a duck sheds water, comes home covered in soil from horticulture courses, and invites his dirt-ball compatriots over who leave droplet sized trails of beer and soda on the carpets.
A few other notes... This thing will pick up stuff normal vacuums won't, I'd guess because with moisture involved there isn't much static electricity. Worth a pass or so with it now and then with just hot water when your dry vacuum cleaner fails to cut it. You might hit the worked-upon space with a dry vacuum cleaner afterwards as this device can leave little fiber and pet hairballs if you don't feel like cleaning it often enough when used on really dirty and neglected carpets. Also, I find it best to run a fan over the carpet to help it dry quickly.
Overall, very impressive for $90 retail. I'd recommend this to whomever asked.
