Ages 5 and up? Too small for that., January 20, 2008 I thought the other reviewer was exaggerating when she said the ball was the size of a watermelon. But the ball really is about as wide as a watermelon. There is no way the ball is large enough for the average 5 year old. (The box says the toy is for "Ages 5 and up") The ball should be a good size for the two year olds I work with though.
The SpongeBob decal doesn't look like it is going to hold up very well. Otherwise, the construction appears to be sturdy.
The box says that the foot pump adapter is not included, but it is and it's the best adapter I have seen. The others I have used would not stay in the ball without me holding them in place while I pumped. This one actually stayed put.
So, if you are looking for something a 5 year old could use, look elsewhere. If you're looking for an inexpensive hopper for a smaller child, give this a try.
