Dangerous Product, September 12, 2008 We purchased this item for the top of our stairs in our main room, we have it hardware mounted. It is horrible, after 'locking' it in place it pops and loses the pressure, when my 16 month old hears this he knows he can go wiggle it and it will come open. Better yet sometimes it pops and just opens itself. We contacted safety first and they replaced the first one, only a week after installing the next one it is doing the exact same thing. When Safety first was contacted this time they said they replaced it out of courtesy to me the first time and would offer a discount on another one but that is it. Of course we will NOT be purchasing any other safety first items for our current child or the new baby on the way. Please don't buy this product, it is not only a poor product is compromises the safety of your child, especially if you have it at the top of stairs.
