Big results from a small amount of charcoal, July 15, 2009 This is my third Lodge grill in the course of about 25 years. It is satisfyingly sturdy, and though small it easily accommodates food for up to a dozen people cooked in a couple of batches. I like the iron grate which allows grilling vegetables and other delicate food that might otherwise fall through more widely space racks.
This grill requires a comparative small amount of charcoal and does not need to be babied. It will last for 8 to 10 years with no special effort to protect it from the elements. It lives right outside my kitchen door and I can bring it up onto my covered back porch if it begins raining after my fire is underway.
