Great bike for running around town!, July 2, 2009 I got this bike for my girlfriend and she really likes it. I really like how smooth it rides. I guess it's due to the large rim/tire size. For the price this is a great bike. I had a bit of trouble setting up the derailleurs, so I had to take it in to a bike shop, but after they adjusted them properly the shifting works great. By the way, she's 5'7" so if you're a bit shorter, you might want to go with the 15" frame.

Not a bad bike if you're a bike mechanic, July 2, 2009 I read all the reviews, did my research and felt confident this would be the bike for me...although shortly after receiving the bike and putting it together that's where all the troubles began. I tried my best to get the derailers set up properly but still had issues shifting. So after talking to customer service (which is excellent by the way) I decided to have a shop do the needed adjustments. All was well, except for one other issue. When I initially put the bike together, I didn't have a micro torque wrench or whatever they're called and managed to strip the bolts holding the brake caliper to the front fork. So in order to get this replaced it would cost me an additional dollars under warranty...and after already having to pay a shop to do ajustments, the additional costs were starting to add up. So I think this would be a great bike if you have experience tweaking/adjusting derailers, and have the proper torque wrench...I did look into buying a torque wrench but prices on those are dollars. [The brake caliper must be torqued to 110 in-lb (12.43Nm)] I guess the problem is the cheap fork (cheap metal strips easily). So I will be returning this bike. On a side note, when I brought the bike into the shop, they're comment was "What poor quality", which shocked me because it's got shimano parts. Also I recommend replacing the cables with better cables...cost is about dollars a cable. (Oh, and the weight of the 17" bike is 31.4 lbs) One other thing to check is inside the frame head tube...mine had quite a bit of metal shavings inside that I luckily discovered while assembling. (You have to pull the fork out of the head tube to check this.)
