does the job, June 25, 2007 I was concerned that this device would not be sturdy enough. But it stands up pretty well to my rambunctious 30lb 2 year old. I have had to warn her not to deliberately scratch it or climb on it, otherwise it's fine.
The fold-down feature is one we could live without. Her bed is a few inches too low and the rail doesn't fold down straight. It makes a ramp which just begs that the child step on it, which would not be a good idea. So we leave it up all the time and she climbs into bed at the gap at the head of the bed. She has managed to fall out of bed at the gap, but as I said, the bed is pretty low. I would NOT recommend this for the upper bunk!

DeLonghi Pump Driven Espresso/Cappuccino Maker – EC140B

Does the job at a decent price, June 25, 2007 The lattes taste good! Pump driven is the way to go. It forces hot (not boiling) water through the coffee. Then you heat the water up to boiling to steam the milk. This machine has the same buttons and functions as the high-dollar units.
Pros:
pump driven
good steam
simple
cheap (anything cheaper is just to adequate)
Cons:
cheap plastic
messy (but so are the expensive ones)
dual spout flows unevenly (one cup fills faster)
smallish resevoir (we use it a LOT)
The three adults in our house use it several times a day. When this one breaks we'll get a more sturdy (expensive) unit, but the functionality will be the same. It's a great starter system.

steam driven is not the way to go, June 25, 2007 I suppose the coffee maker is OK. That was just a fringe benefit for us.
The espresso maker is terrible. "Steam driven" means that the water has to be boiling to push through the espresso. That is too hot for espresso. The hot (not boiling) water should be pushed through with a pump. The steam should only be used for the milk.
The plastic parts also feel cheap and breakable. Not a quality item. Though the black and chrome does look cool.

Graco Lovin Hug Swing - Bancroft

baby loves it - that's good enough for me, June 25, 2007 The cradle is fantastic. It has no metal supports, just cloth stretched around a metal outline. Very comfy.
My wife was dissapointed that the mobile doesn't spin. But the baby doesn't seem to mind.
My only complaint is that the legs come apart too easily. That makes it difficult to move from room to room without pieces falling off.

Bone-Shaped Plastic Bag Dispenser with Refills

don't poop in the woods without it, June 25, 2007 I used to use plastic grocery bags. I mean, what else are you going to go with them? But I would always be embarassed when I forgot to bring one and I was too lazy to go back to the house to get one. I certainly wouldn't go back after the dog did his thing, just to come back out and search for the now chilly poo.
It's great to have what you need where you need it.

steam driven is not the way to go, June 25, 2007 The only process that should be steam driven is the steaming of the milk. Steam is TOO HOT to make espresso. The hot (but not boiling) water should be pushed through by a pump.
For a few dollars more, Delonghi makes a cheap but effective pump driven model.

Parents Infant Deluxe Walk - Thru Gate

Best looking by far. Works great too., November 20, 2005 This gate looks fabulous against our wood floors. It was very easy to install, and very easy to use.
We are buying a second gate because the bottom hinge broke on our last one. I don't blame the gate for this breakage. Our 75lb dog jumps over it, sometimes clearing it and sometime using it as a step.
I couldn't bare to replace this one with a cheap looking plastic gate or a thinner wooden one. Once you've had the best you can't go back.
