 Very Basic Phone - shoddy construction, June 27, 2009
The teal color is very nice. The paint has a nice textured, velvety feel to it. The phone is boxy, square and boring in design.
The construction is very cheap. The top flip is firmly spring loaded, but wobbly. It moves from side to side when closed. The keyboard is a black, cheap plastic. The outside display is a pretty worthless one line type. The inside display is readable, but small. The user interface is the traditional VM boring arrangement that seriously needs updating.
There is no bluetooth on this model. This is a big problem. Bluetooth is a must here in Albuquerque NM as we have strict handsfree laws here for cell phone use when driving.
Audio is relatively loud and clear, but sounds a bit tinny and sharp.
Not recommended. The VM flare model is a far better choice if you want a nice VM flip type phone that has bluetooth, good audio, and quality construction.

Thin, stylish, hip, cool looking in grey, aqua, cherry colors with a brushed metal back. Well designed and constructed mobile device. Fits easily in your pocket, purse, or bag. Send and receive email anywhere you go.
As reported here, early versions of the peek software were buggy. This has been fixed and many extra features added. You can get the software on your peek updated in two ways. Send it in to peek and they will update it to the latest software which gives it the functionality of the new pronto version for free or purchase a special cable from peek and download and install the update yourself. I like to carry and small, tiny flip phone on a national prepaid carrier that offers unlimited calling for a low price. Tiny, cool phones do not do email so that is why I carry the peek. The peek is simple, easy, fun, and just does email really well ( once you update the software ). It is fantastic at what it does. I purchased two at this great price so I have an extra in case something happens to my original. I signed up for the yearly plan which brings the monthly charge way down.
Once you update the software on your peek you will get:

Support for up to 5 email accounts

This device can save you major dollars per year. Check what your cell phone company charges for unlimited email and texting. If you have this on your cell phone plan, get rid of it and buy a peek.
I highly recommend this device.

Not Ready Yet, June 2, 2009
This phone looks and feels good in your hand, but don't let it's good looks deceive you.
Serious audio problem - The earpiece audio is really bad. Even when fully turned up the earpiece volume is low. You cannot hear it very well even when in a quiet location. Forget trying to use the phone on the street or any slightly busy location. Audio is also not very clear or crisp. This is totally unacceptable. This really needs fixed.
The speakerphone is usable, but not loud and clear enough.
The screen is the largest on any VM phone, but the interface is a red, drab, and boring experience. This needs to be updated.
The keyboard is cramped, but usable, depending on your finger size.
The micro-sd card slot is nice and the slider mechanism is smooth and slick.
It would be nice if they offered it in other colors than boring black !
The poor audio was the killer for me and I returned this phone promptly for a full refund. I suggest you pass on this one.

Excellent Flip Type Phone, April 30, 2009
This is just a fantastic little flip style phone.
I have it in silver. It looks great and feels good in your hand. Nice quality look and and feel.
Easy to use. Nice color screen inside and out.
Excellent sound quality. You can hear people very loud and clear. No hiss or background noise and people have reported that I sound perfect too. The audio is just outstanding.
Bluetooth works very well with my Apple iPhone bluetooth headset. Loud and clear without hiss or noise. Easy to pair too.
If you want a phone that looks good, feels good and you can hear very well on then buy this one.
