Far better than I ever expected from any rice cooker!, July 25, 2008 I've been looking into rice cookers for a long time, but have always experienced sticky rice when eating at friends' houses who used rice cookers. Thanks to the great reviews for this item on target.com, I decided to purchase this one. I was looking for a good-quality item at a good price, and was a little apprehensive because this one is not a high-priced item. Anyway, I brought it home and tried it. I tried the extra long-grain white rice and it came out perfectly. The texture was good with no stickiness at all (I followed directions to rince rice first). It was nice and flaky and even my husband, who hates rice, loved it. The only thing I wasn't so sure about was how long it would take. I wanted to steam veggies during the last 10 minutes and the book doesn't give you any approximate times for the rice. It ended up taking only 35 minutes to cook and I put the veggies in only 5 minutes before the rice was done. Needless to say, our veggies were crunchy. More practice will get it right. This is a wonderful product and I recommend it to anyone who wants an easy dinner with easy cleanup.
