Two starsSittin' pretty but quality is not., April 19, 2007
I purchased this chair after seeing one similar on the movie "Somethings Gotta Give". I like the look, I have a white desk and knew it would look perfect in the intended room. I had been using a black office type chair and it stuck out like a sore thumb so I was ready for a change.

Delivery was timely and as promised. I had read the reviews concerning assembly so I was a little prepared on what to expect. They do divide up the steps and label the hardware accordingly. I thought that was extremely useful and helpful. Unfortunately, this is where my praise ends.

The seat and back was easy to put together, no major event. But when it came to the arms, it was a nightmare. I found the use of the Allen wrench extremely awkward. The best way to assemble this is like someone else mentioned: put it on a chair backwards, put the allen wrench against the screw and manually turn the arms until they tighten. It's a bit hard to do because of the small space between the slat opening. That is where me and my husband spent the most time.

I found the "distressing" to be a terrible joke. It looks so unnatuaral and out of place. In my opinion it looks cheap and too deliberate. Not good.

As to the quality, it's okay. It seems sturdy as far as the wood material. I chose to give this two stars because the left arm kept loosening up and continually needed tightening. Yesterday it fell off. Apparently the inside screw fell out, which is where the problem appears to be. We tightened it (yet again!) however right now it is still wobbley and loose (on both ends). We will probably try to strengthen it with small "L" brackets and glue.

What I would suggest is getting and using a Allen wrench with maybe some type of extender so you can get in that tight spot easier. Also, while they do provide a small wrench (which is fine enough,) if you have a wrench/socket set it would speed up the assembly of the bottom chair metal plate.

It's a pretty comfortable chair and it looks great with my desk, which is why I will keep it.

Happy shopping.
