Good, but with issues, January 9, 2009 I was not planning on co-sleeping until my daughter was born at 33 weeks. She's two months now and neither the crib nor bassinet were working out very well. I started co-sleeping with great results, but I was nervous about rolling on her. We also have a "fluffy" bed so that made me more nervous. I bought this item yesterday and used it last night. I give three stars for the following reasons:
1) The thing is so wide. I agree with Ben's Mom (another reviewer) that it takes up way too much room in the bed. We have a king beg too. I can't comfortably nurse on my side with it in the bed. I need to sit up and nurse.
2) It's kind of short. Though my little one is two months old, she is only 1 week adjusted age and only 7 pounds and 19 inches - the size of some regular newborns. She is almost too long for it. The good thing is that the end is softer, so I bet I could do some work with some scissors :)
3) The mattress is very hard.
On a positive note, I love that it folds up. I have found it very useful for her naps in my office where I only have a futon. I just put it on the futon and she sleeps away.
While in bed last night, it really DID work. If she started to fuss, I was able to calm her without getting out of bed.
I'd say it's a great idea, and will keep using it, but it has some design flaws. My hubby hates it in the bed.
If I weren't also using it in my office, I think I'd not keep it and get an Arm's Reach bassinet so that she could be right next to me but not with taking up so much room in the middle of the bed.
