This hat is a good value for someone that needs a collapsable top hat and you do not want to spend [...] for a silk hat. This hat is made of a material that has some shine and the mechanism works just as expected. A light tap on the rim and it pops into shape. The hat is a bit heavy because of the spring mechanism but it is still comfortable to wear. The size is large if you wear a large hat size. The rim is very flat and shapeless but if you want the true Fred Astair flair then you are going to have to pay [...]. There is alos no decroatve hat band on the outside. This is a good hat for street performers which I am or possibly magicians but you will have to add your own secret pockets for the rabbit.

The materials and workmanship in this hat was satisfactory and it would be a good theatrical prop. It just is not suitable to wear as a hat. The mechanism that allows the hat to fold does not fully extend when the hat is open. That means that the wearer is constantly poked on both sides of the head by the metal linkages. I really wanted a hat, so I sent this prop back.

It is a good hat for the price, besides the springs that can make your head slightly uncomfortable, but there is an easy way to fix that. Just remember you are wearing a collapsible top hat and the grin will come back, dulling the slight annoyance that is upon your noggin.
