I just got my new Dyson, so I decided to give it a test run. I used my Hoover to vacuum my children's rooms 4 days ago. I just filled the canister in only their two rooms. You would not believe the dust and dog hair it sucked up. Very strong and powerful vacuum. Love it!

my wife and i have been shopping around for a good vacuum for awhile, and we even considered paying a ton for a kirby, which i'm glad we didn't. i saw this vacuum in store and decided to pick it up to replace the dirt devil vibe i purchased a few years ago. that vacuum had horrible suction and clogged easily. my wife put the dyson together, and was using it within 10 minutes. both of us love the incredible suction and how easy the vacuum is to use. i just wonder if those who weren't impressed were using the product correctly. thanks dyson.

After pondering the idea of spending $400.00 on a vacuum for quite some time I finally decided to give the Dyson a try. I had heard great things about the vacuum and I was in need of a new vacuum. I have had mine about 6 months now and I really like it. It has not lost suction and gets the finest dust/dirt from my carpet. The suction is the best I've found in a vacuum. Even though I like the vacuum I still don't understand why it cost as much as it does. The only thing I don't like about the vacuum, but have now grown use to it the hose attachment. To use the hose you have to pull the handle off and detach the hose from the handle, you can then use the hose or re-attach it to the top of the handle for a more different use. It is hard to explain but once you get one you will see what I mean. I wish I could just reach for the hose when needed and not have to go through several steps to use the hose. That is my only complaint and like I said I am quite use to the process now. All in all the vacuum is great and you will not be disappointed.

My husband and I read a lot of reviews about this particular vacuum. There were a lot of positives but some negatives that we were concerned about. Once we bought the Dyson and tried it out - all of the negatives dissappeared!
1. We found the cord to be much longer than the cord on our old machine.
2. It vacuumed up a TON of...everything! It's suction is great!
3. There was a grinding sound only on one rug. (That is when it thinks it's jammed.)
4. The hose is super long and expands and contracts.
5. It's really easy to dump out the canister.
6. There is a bit more work involved in attaching the wand - but well worth it!
It's a great machine and well worth the money!

Just purchased the Dyson after we had a problem vacuuming today. We read reviews and figured we could take it back if we were not happy. We'll be keeping our Dyson.
I vacuumed after getting home a few hours after vacuuming with a Dirt Devil(which was terrific for 5 years). The amount of crud this thing picked up was an awakening, it was frightening to see what we and the children have been walking, playing, and laying on.
We are instantly in love. It is easy to maneuver, not as loud as our Dirt Devil, simple to put together and use, as well as emptying the cannister.
I recommend this Vacuum without a doubt.
There are a couple of improves that I will highlight: It could use a little headlamp, it doesn't get under the couch or entertainment center well (thats what the hose is for though), and the edging needs improvement.

I purchased the red Dyson after hearing so many wonderful things about them from several people and have to admit that I was happy until I was using it for the second time and noticed that the dust cup wasn't filling and it refused to pick up a few pieces of sock fuzz and a tiny piece of paper that were all just sitting on the surface of the carpet. After playing around with it for a while, I came to the conclusion that the self-adjusting height feature wasn't quite "intelligent" enough to consistently adjust properly to my low pile carpet. I could tell when it had adjusted properly because the suction was more intense, it was more resistant when I was pulling it back and forth and I could see the dust cup filling with debris. Perhaps it works better with higher pile carpet? I wish that Dyson would have designed this machine so that you could manually adjust the height because I think that would have solved my problem- then again, who knows!
I did, however, like how the cleaning wand performed- the suction was amazing and it cleaned my stairs beautifully. I was able to leave the machine at the bottom of the stairs without it tipping over, and the extension hose was plenty long as well.
FYI- I REALLY wanted to love this vacuum as I've been wanting to buy one for the last few years, but it didn't perform at all like I thought it would and for the amount of $$$ that Dyson charges for it, you shouldn't have to pick up the stuff it leaves behind!

I purchased my Dyson before reading any reviews online, I've heard great things about them from several people. I saw the Target Red version in the store last night and the price was good so I went for it. Got it home and assembled it and vacuumed. It really picked up the pile of the carpet. I had vacuumed already that day with my Eureka Altima which I thought was a pretty good vac but the Dyson got a lot more dirt considering the carpet had already been vacuumed that day. I've only had it for a day so I can't comment on it's durability but I'm hoping it lives up to the promises James Dyson makes on his commercials.

We bought the Dyson Red the other night. My husband Vacuumed the floors and as he did I noticed that when he would pull the vacuum back, the bottom part of the vacuum would come up slightly so the agitator was not completely on the carpet. I wasn't sure if this was some sort of feature. I checked the carpet after he was done and there was still a good amount of hair left on the carpet from my dog. If I am going to be spending $400 on a vacuum it better be picking up more than that. I was so disappointed with it. My husband was down on all fours holding the base down when he would pull back, and come on, who should be doing this with a brand new Dyson?
Well, I called Dyson and let them know my problem. The guy was so friendly and had me check things over. He said that even a used vacuum shouldn't be doing that and especially because it is new, to return it to the store. I am writing this review because I read through so many review before deciding to get this vacuum and there were always a few comments on their vacuum being horrible. After my experience, I assume that they also got a defect like me and should have returned it.
My husband liked the easy emptying of the canister. It was less messy than our other bagless and you didn't have to buy bags. He also loved the length of the cord and the length of the hose when cleaning the stairs, but I thought it was more of a chore to make it available to use the hose than any other vacuum I have used. He also liked the suction. We have since decided to go with a Simplicity Synchrony and love it 10 times more, but it is also more expensive. So if your new Dyson isn't picking up well, see if you had the same problem and they will gladly replace it for you.

I have been through a number of cheaper vacuums - every brand from Eureka to Hoover to Dirt Devil. With four kids and two Goldens, this vacuum has proven to be great! It gets up the hair, the dirt and the crumbs - even from our laminate kitchen floor, without scattering the mess or leaving gunk behind. It's pretty lightweight and easy to manuever. Another plus - the little brushes in the front corners really dig deep to get the hair and other goo from that crevice where the wall and carpet meet. No more bending over to use the crevice attachment there! This vacuum is definitely worth the extra $.

I purchased this vacuum to replace a Dirt Devil that ceased to work. I have three dogs in a small condo so I really need an effective vacuum. I took it out of the box, put it together & proceeded to vacuum up enough pet hair & dust to create another dog or two!! I've read reviews about Dyson machines being heavy & noisy. It is actually much lighter than my Dirt Devil upright & it makes less noise. Emptying the cylinder couldn't be easier. I have recommended this to my friends & family. Dyson has a customer for life!!
