Simply Amazing. May 2, 2009 Reviewer:  Margaret H. Corey "Target lover" Real Name See all my reviews >

I went from a samsung 7.0 disposable battery bulky camera to the brand new, small 10.0 3x optical zoom, gorgeous canon camera. I must say canon has outdone themselves. When i saw this camera online, i knew it was one of the newest models. i havent seen this one anywhere at all. So since i was so ridiculously fed up with my old camera, i decided to get a camera. I must say i love it.
The camera is perfect for taking pictures with friends and family, and its also amazing for photography too.
It takes pictures super fast, never fuzzy, and the video recorder is clear and sharp.
I love this camera. I assure you, you will too.
it doesnt break easily and can hold a ton of pictures. I love love love it. by far the best camera i have ever owned.
My point: GET ONE. :)

great camera May 27, 2009 Reviewer:  Diana Burns Real Name See all my reviews >

i am replacing an older kodak 6mp (the bulky size). this camera is everything my family needs (and more) for pleasure shots of us on vacations and in our day to day life. the color is amazing, hardly any shutter lag, the macros feature (12x zoom) is awesome. the stability feature works great, face detection is nice, has auto-focus (can be annoying and noisy). the price is a little higher and it does not have internal memory, uses a rechargable lithium battery (260pics on a full battery per the instructions). i highly recommend this camera for someone who wants great pics of friends and family. i am not a prof. or amateur photographer, so i cannot compare it to higher-end models. i have not tried the "movie-mode" or taken night pics yet. we took pics in a museum with no flash (per museum policy) and horrible museum lighting and they turned out spectacular.

Canon SD1200 - Great camera May 28, 2009 Reviewer:  Fleece "CCG" (Rochester. MN)  See all my reviews >

Bought this as a replacement for a Sony DSC-W80, and it is a much better camera. Takes pictures more quickly when button is pressed. Image Stabilizer works better for my shaky hands. The on screen display and menu buttons are easier to follow and figure out. Plus the slmmer, smaller size fits much better in a pocket. The image quality is a bit better too, but part of that might be the MP difference of 10 vs 7. One other thing I noticed, is that this camera does a better job of slowing down movement in an action shot. Not like an SLR.. but better than other hand helds I have used before. Great little camera.

Good camera to give as a graduation present! August 1, 2009 Reviewer:  C. Burton Real Name See all my reviews >

I bought this camera for my niece and tested it first.
Pros:
1. small size, perfect in fact. Small enough to go in my jeans pocket, but shaped just fine for my arthritic hands.
2. has an optical viewfinder
3. love that it automatically changes to macro in the auto mode when you get really close to an object.
4. flash works really well.
5. seems to work well in low light situations. I took pictures while going through a drive through at night and the menu board looks great, and the business next to the drive through looks great. Did not have the flash on.
6. I held the camera and took a lot of pictures of my own face in different lighting situations and every one of the pictures turned out really well. Perfect focus every time.
7. very quick shutter response
8. Battery charges quickly and lasts a good while
9. robin's egg blue very pretty color
10. picture quality acceptable
Cons:
1.makes a lot of little noises, but I quickly learned to ignore them. Didn't notice them much after a while. Not a deal breaker.
2. no paper instruction book - CD instead.
3. not as easy for me to figure out as my larger Canon A720IS. Guess it is because I am so used to my own camera.
4. only has 3X zoom and I am used to 6X

I am buying one of these for myself next week, but ordering the charcoal color online so I will have a different color from my niece. I love my current camera, but it doesn't fit in my pants pocket, and sometimes that is what you need.

Hope this helps.

everything is perfect, but the shutter delay June 19, 2009 Reviewer:  Brittany (Houston, TX)  See all my reviews >

i got this camera to replace my polaroid.. a purple 8.0 megapixel. i have a toddler and i felt like i was missing all of the moments i was trying to capture because of the shutter delay on my old camera. i LOVE the canon powershot camera, the quality is amazing, but the shutter delay isn't much better! and you have to hold down the button to take the pic, which i'm not used to with my polaroid.. you just had to press the button. i really love this camera and it's one of the few i've seen on here with great overall reviews, but i might return it if i can find another camera with a fast shutter time.

WOW June 16, 2009 Reviewer:  C. Bradley Real Name (Naples, FL)  See all my reviews >

I got this camera for my birthday to replace my old kodak easyshare.. i was nervous about the battery because my old camera i had to replace the battery every 10 or so photos. I have to say I couldn't ask for a better camera. I just got back from the bahamas and I took over 300 photos and did not have to charge the battery ONCE!!! And it still has a full battery. We also rented a scooter and i was taking photos as we were cruising along and every single picture came out like it would have were we standing still. AMAZING!! not a single blurred photo. I am hooked.

This is the Best Camera I have Ever Owned! June 6, 2009 Reviewer:  Kelly M. (Columbia, SC)  See all my reviews >

I bought this camera to replace a Nikon CoolPix camera I had for less than 1.5 years and it just broke on me. I am so happy with my decision to buy the Canon PowerShot!!! It is so much better than my last camera! It is very easy to use and takes the best photos! The quality of the photos is amazing! They always come out clear and crisp looking. Even action shots are never blurry or fuzzy like they were with my last camera. Another plus is the attractive design of this camera. It is very small and thin, which is great for toting it around with you in your purse, pocket, etc. I love the dark grey color also, but it looks more like slate blue to me. Lastly, the rechargeable battery is great! I hardly ever have to charge it and when I do, it is done charging in less than 15 minutes. No more buying batteries for me! YAY! Get this camera and you will not be dissapointed!!

Easy to use and compact July 1, 2009 Reviewer:  C. Nicholson Real Name (North Carolina)  See all my reviews >

I had been looking at cameras for a while and had narrowed it down to the Sony Cybershot and Nikon Coolpix. I had a Canon and didn't love it. After doing some research online, reading reviews on several different websites, I had eliminated the Nikon because I had read it didn't have great photo quality. I had made up my mind to get the Sony when a salesman told me what a great camera the Canon PowerShot SD 1200 IS was. A friend of mine is a photographer and she also advised that I not get the Sony because of the the memory stick. (they are a pain apparently) So, after much searching for the best deal, I found this Canon at Target on sale [...]. And when I got to the store, it was the last one.

I am so glad I decided to get this camera. It is so much easier to use than my old Canon Power Shot that was only 4 Megapixels and was much bigger and bulkier to carry. The photo quality is very good, and it is so compact that I can carry it in my purse and never miss a photo moment! I also like that it has the rechargeable battery, so no more filling up landfills with AA batteries.

I would highly recommend this camera.

Optical viewfinder! That is a great selling point! July 13, 2009 Reviewer:  Tina Lewis Rowe Real Name (Mile High City)  See all my reviews >

The other reviews will tell you about the technical aspects of this camera. It's fine for what I need and I'm happy with it. However, the BIG selling point for me and I'm sure for others with aging eyes, is that it has an optical viewfinder (the "old fashioned method)as well as a good sized LCD viewer.

Not only is the optical viewfinder easier to use without reading glasses or holding the camera out at arm's length, it's also easier to use in low lighting or indoor settings.

An optical viewfinder is rare on cameras nowadays...check around. But if you're buying a gift for an older person or someone who, like me, often doesn't have reading glasses handy if outdoors, this is the one to get.

Awesome! :) July 16, 2009 Reviewer:  Like Totally! "Ti Ti" (New)  See all my reviews >

I love this camera! I got it for a graduation present and it works fabulously! Canon's are totally awesome cameras and this one is no different! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a cute camera that also WORKS GREAT! There are plenty of pink cameras out there that don't work very well, but Canon has combined the best of both worlds! Definitely a good investment to capture all the wonderful moments of life!
