Perfect, but with a few quirks...

I was in desperate need of a good vacuum -- we have a very large dog who sheds horribly, two cats, and an 8 month old baby who just began crawling. I was tired of picking pet hair out of his hands, mouth and toys. I didn't want to bother toying around with cheaper vacuums and so I went straight to the Dysons. Got it home and vacuumed everywhere, including under beds, sofas, you name it.
Suction: Great. It does a very good job of getting the pet hair off the rugs and wood floors (and furniture). I can finally let my baby crawl around on the rugs and he isn't covered in dog hair... maybe a stray piece here and there but that's it (must vacuum every day). The downside is that the suction is so strong that it's a bit difficult pushing it across our shag rugs, and we can't vacuum throw rugs without a fight (like the bathroom kind).
Hose/Tools: takes some getting used to. It's a bit awkward using the hose, but then again I think most vacuum hoses are. The vacuum keeps rolling into me while I try to use the hose. The tools are basic, nothing fancy. The low reach floor tool would be a good addition.
Weight: While this is lighter than most Dyson's at 16 lbs, I still feel like it's somewhat heavy for me. Especially when trying to push it over the thicker rugs. It's almost as if the center of the weight is in the handle and that's why it feels heavy.
Ease of Use: The ball feataure is nice to have but I'm not overly excited about it. The unit is still challenging to move around in small spaces (as with most vacuums). The dirt bin empties easily. The off/on beater brush switch is nice to have, handles wood floors well.
Other notes: The vacuum seems to exhaust warm air, to the point that i can actually feel the room getting warm. Cord could be longer. Relatively quiet. Would be nice if the handle had some soft rubber, my hand hurt after using for long periods. The foot pedal to release the vacuum seems to stick sometimes.
Overall Summary: I give this 3.5 to 4 stars because of the quirks mentioned above. If rating on suction and how well it handles pet hair, I'd rate it 5. I'm thrilled that my baby isn't covered in pet hair anymore. But when spending that kind of money on a silly vacuum, my opinion is that it should be perfect. I wanted to be "in love" with this vacuum, and while that's not the case, I do still really like this vacuum. But the price tag could be lower.

I'm not sure what the previous reviewer is talking about with the handle feeling like it will break off. Also, the DC25 has a lot more suction power than the lower models, so to me it is worth the extra money. This vacuum is very well designed and a dream to use! It handles very well. It turns with just a flick of the wrist and is very lightweight. The easy reach feature is awesome because you can stop in the middle of vacuuming a room and grab something off the ceiling then continue on your way. The attachments also snap on very well and don't fall off constantly like I've had happen with other vacuums. I would definitely recommend this vacuum!

I was so happy to get it and so displeased with it once I got it home! The BALL was a pain-sure it turns on a dime but that BALL does not fit under any furniture! I could not take this back soon enough and I never take anything back! The cord was so short I had to unplug/plug-in 2 different times in just 1 room! I couldn't clean under my coffee table because that ball is so big. I was so unimpressed! Everyone said "Oh Dyson is the BEST" well, I thought it was the worst! I say-give me a vacuum with a BAG so you don't have to clean out the canister yourself and get exposed to dust and forget about "turning on a dime" the BALL part was the PROBLEM not the SOLUTION!!!!

This vacuum is so advanced! I couldnt even believe that all I had to do was move my wrist! I would absolutely definitely recomend this vac to anyone who doesn't like to move furniture when cleaning! It did a great job I wish I would have found out about it years ago. Even my husband thinks it's cool and now helps out with the vacuuming....if only Dyson would come out with cookware!

Yes, this vacuum never loses suction but that's about the only thing it does. It's handle is not sturdy enough you feel like it will break off while vacuuming. I felt that if I bought this smaller version it would work as great as it large version. I was sadly mistaken. I would not recommend this vacuum at all it is way over priced for the work it does. I bought it to replace a five year old Dirt Devil that for $49.00 gave me 4 good years.

I bought this vacuum not sure how it was going to work...I have all hard wood floors and i must say this thing works great, it doesnt fit under my couch, but I use the attachment and it gets right under there, even vacuuming the stairs is a breeze, I leave it at the bottom of the stairs and the attachment goes all the way to the top of my stairs, about 12 steps! Its totally worth every penny. PS i got this at bed & bath with 20% coupon you get in the mail, I saved [Price]bucks! :-)

I bought the Dyson and luv the fact that it can clean up after 3 Chihuahuas. They have an extraordinary amount of hair loss for a small dog and this is the only vacuum that can clean up everywhere. I vacuumed my area rug with my old vacuum and then vacuumed it with my Dyson and I got about a half a canister of hair and dirt, after vacuuming with my old vacuum. It is great and my niece loves to use it any time she is here. My grandson can now play on my floors without getting hair all over him. The only drawback is it won't fit under furniture very well. Other than that, best vacuum I've ever owned and I'm talking 35 years worth of vacuums!!! Thanks again Dyson and Target.

I read all of the rave reviews and bought one. I was amazed at the great design in the machine. It picks up outrageously well, is quieter than I thought and empties like a breeze. It's easier to move around than a canister and because the weight is low (motor in the ball), it handles well. Even the hose and attachments work really well and are easy to deploy. The only drawback I can think of is it doesn't have an automatic cord winder. With a five year warranty and no bags to buy, this thing is an incredible deal and well worth the money. I give it five stars. Kudos to Dyson.

Love this vacuum. Best I've ever had. I couldn't believe the stuff this thing picked up first time I vacuumed with it. It is lightweight compared to other 11 amp vacuums I've tried. I also like the fact that it has permanent filters that merely need to be rinsed rather than replaced. I'm really pleased with the purchase!

I ordered this vacuum despite the somewhat negative reviews I had seen on here. Some people complained the cord was too short. It's the perfect length for my 900 sq. ft. townhome. Other people complain it's made cheaply because it's plastic. I've found it to be very well made and it doesn't feel cheap to me at all. And can I just say, it's made my vacuuming life easier, especially for my stairway and transitioning from carpet to linoleum. And it sucks up so much grit, I swear I have Ocean City in my canister when I'm done!
