Elegant and easy to assemble January 25, 2007 Reviewer:  Camp Osborne (North NJ)  See all my reviews >

I have been drooling over this very simple but elegant table for over a year. We kept putting off the purchase because we needed something bigger, or so we thought. Last month, i found out online how to 'cheat' with table top sizes, and finally talked my husband into buying it. It came in great shape. Took me about 15 minutes to assemble it. and though it's heavy and it takes two people to lift, it's easy to maneuver once it's together. We don't have a formal dining room, so it shares space in my 'great room'. it looks fantastic under a chandelier with wrought iron chairs. no scratches yet, although i'm sure the cats will have at it as we chase them off. i'll use the previous advice and paint over the top with black paint from the hardware store if it does happen.

Now, about the size - since it only seats 4 comfortably, the way to make it bigger for special occasions is this: Take a sheet of 3/4 inch cabinet grade plywood, cut it to the size and shape you need (we're using a 58" long oval design by 46 wide - be wary not to build too big for the size of the table base!!! Do not extend more than 8 inches past table top diameter.). Use four 1x1 braces underneath to keep the plywood in place on top of the table. Primer it and paint it to match the table in order to get a smooth finish. Get black felt from the craft store and cut to drape slightly over the edges of the table top to keep from scratching. then put your plywood on top. Cover with a table cloth and voila - you have a larger table when extra guests come to visit.

VERY poorly packaged September 4, 2008 Reviewer:  Busy Mom (Virginia)  See all my reviews >

Beautiful table; terrible packaging. I've sent it back twice because it arrived broken. We'll see if I have any luck the third time around. Target needs to re-evaluate their Quality Assurance standards as this is a consistent problem with this table.

Good Price November 29, 2008 Reviewer:  J. L. Sample "Joan L Sample" Real Name (NYC)  See all my reviews >

The table is solid I have chairs I brought from Target.com and they match very well. I would be very happy with my purchase except the table top was scratched and had a few scuff marks. I was disappointed with that. A new piece of furniture should never be scratched or scuffed! I will try to get the scuffs out but the scratches are there forever!

Every Woman Needs A Little Black Table! July 13, 2009 Reviewer:  bikerchic29841 "bikerchic29841" See all my reviews >

Who needs a man? Well, OK, besides possibly the UPS man (or lady) that delivered it. I placed my order online Monday the 6th and it was on my porch Wednesday the 8th when I got home from work--MUCH earlier than expected. I could not wait for the boyfriend, so just dug in! I had the table put together in less than an hour! It was double-boxed with styrofoam and plastic packaging inside--which was good considering it was storming the day it was delivered. The UPS man/lady did a good job of putting it in the best location on the porch to protect it. The directions were a SNAP! All hardware pieces were clearly labeled and parts easy to identify in putting it together. Target supplies everything you need with exception of a Phillips screwdriver and a box cutter (or scissors). I did not need anyone to help me turn the table back right side up when I was done putting it together, but to be safe I recommend having someone there to make the "flip". I also laid a doubled-over blanket on the floor before putting the table together to protect both table and floor. The feet have adjustable rubber heads that you can twist in or out as you desire. This helps with leveling the table so it does not wobble and serves protection if you have hardwoods. I just re-finished my hardwoods, so I put extra caution into it and stuck some felt furniture pads to the rubber adjustable feet. I also had some satin finish polyurethane left over, and put two coats on the table top to give it extra protection. Note: This table does not have a super-shiny finish, but it is not "flat" black. With the satin finish poly, it was really shiny. The construction is all solid wood, and the 42" diameter fit perfectly in my little 8' x 8' dining room and went really well with black leather Parsons chairs. I had been shopping at local furniture stores and I can tell you, this price cannot be beat! I would HIGHLY recommend this table!

Perfect Little Black Table May 27, 2009 Reviewer:  Just Me "Lori W." (Baltimore, MD)  See all my reviews >

Ordered it on a Monday - was using it on Thursday. A very easy to assemble, nice sturdy table. I love it and everyone who has seen it loves it.

Beautiful table, Excellent value! February 9, 2009 Reviewer:  Liz (Boca Raton, FL)  See all my reviews >

The table arrived quickly - about a week after I ordered it. It was very easy to put together. The wood is heavy, and the finished product looks expensive. It is really easy to clean with a damp cloth. I would recommend this to anyone looking for great style at a low price.

Great for small places! July 16, 2008 Reviewer:  Erin C (Fort Laud, FL, USA) See all my reviews >

I bought this table two years ago and I still love it! I have a small townhouse with little room for a dinning area. I was even thinking of not putting a table out at all, thinking it would make the space more cramped, but this table made a big difference in making my home look and feel elegant. To anyone who feels like they have a small space I recomend this table, it's not too big or overpowering it's just right!

Nice Table August 25, 2009 Reviewer:  Happy New Homeowner "Brandy R" (Gywnn Oak, MD)  See all my reviews >

My son and I put this very heavy table together with on glitch. The screw hole for one screw that hold the leaf in place would just turn in the hole. I had to put wood glue to make the screw catch. I wasn't about to send it back over a screw. It took 3 of us to finally get the table top on the pedestal. Note: Have two people hold the table top and one person get under the table and align the screws by lifting the pedestal and then put the table on the floor in one motion.

What's with the packaging?? July 30, 2009 Reviewer:  Kentucky shopper (Louisville, KY, USA)  See all my reviews >

I love the table. It's sturdy and very pretty. However, it had too many dings and scratches on it because the packaging was ridiculous! It was essentially open with a thin layer of foam to protect it. A table that expensive should be packed with more care. The UPS guy said it was typical with Target shipping. Honestly, it makes me not want to order things from Target again. I also got the chairs and they were packaged much better.

Great Quality, Even Better Price! July 4, 2009 Reviewer:  Deal Lover (Tampa, FL)  See all my reviews >

We just received our table yesterday (much to our surprise--it wasn't scheduled to arrive until the tenth!). It was an absolute breeze to assemble and the quality was very impressive. Even my boyfriend who is very particular and skeptical was impressed. We currently live in a one bedroom condo so it is perfect for our small dining area, but even when we move into a house, this will make a great breakfast table. We also got the X-back chairs which help give the traditional style of the table a slightly more modern feel. I would definitely recommend purchasing this table! You won't be disappointed!
