The lead of the pencils, nor the recycled newsprint have odor! They have to void the newsprint of scent in order to be able to have the gourmet scents that they are dipped in to adhere to the paper. They are a fundraiser at my school and I (6th grade teacher) am all for them. At first it was weird to see my students occasionally smell their smencils but it has actually worked to our mutual benefit because it keeps my students alert! It is a better fundraiser than candy etc... Smencils rock!

My 8 year old loves the but I think they stink. The led as well as the wood smells so all the paper in the house smells like popcorn or cotten candy. All of her friends like them. If you 8 have fun but parents be ready for a stinky office.

I Disagree with the other reveiw. A lot.
They sell smencils at my school every year (to raise money for the special ed kids) and everyone buys them.
after a while you get tired of smelling them,but some , like cherry, smell awesome.And yes some of them smell not so great, but the led doesnt smell, not sure what the other person was talking about.....

They were great. The lead doesn't smell though. Most of the cents are good a couple are soso but most are fantastic! And good for the enviroment! GO SMENCIILS!

These pencils smell so good and the best part is they are made from recycled newspapers. Just try to keep them in the case so they don't lose their smell.

i got thee for my son for school and he loved them they smelll so good i actually take them to work and use them they are great and when he is bored thats wat he'll go and draw with them he just loves the

These pencils are all the rage at my daughter's elementary school. In my opinion some smell great & some are foul, but I'm not going to complain about anything that makes homework a little more fun.
