I purchased this straightener because I was tired of buying numerous cheap straighteners, and I heard that CHI straighteners were the best! I figured since it was so expensive it had to work good. It does work good on your hair, but not like it should for the price. This is NOT a genuine CHI straighener. The genuine CHI's are made by Farouk and it stands for Cationic Hydration Interlink. If you notice on the CHI straighteners you buy from Target, they say Ceramic Hairstyling Iron. They use the same packaging and everything as the Farouk straighteners so you think you are buying the expensive brand! Look carefully though, and you will see it is a FAKE!!!!!! Do not buy this straightener. You can go to almost any salon and get the REAL version for a lot cheaper!!!!!!!!

This is by far THE BEST flat iron I've ever owned.....but you definitely might want to be cautious before purchasing it. I purchased mine and a little over a month of having it, it quit working. I had heard about this problem prior to purchasing the Chi, but went ahead and decided to purchase it anyway. Luckily, I was able to exchange for another one it at Target with no problem at all, but I would definitely take consideration into the fact that they break down easily before spending $100 plus on this product. But aside from that factor, it's a fantastic flat iron. The best for sure!

O. M. G.!!!! I love this flat iron. I have funky hair that will not hold a perm longer than 2 weeks. so i chopped off all my hair and went natural. My stylist used the chi blow dryer, and then the chi on my hair once it got longer, and OH EM GEEE!!! They should have put me in a commercial! I bought one to try it for myself plus the blowdryer, and it works just the same at home. wash it blow dry it and straighten it. no grease, no extra chemicals, just beautiful soft, healthy, nonburned or processed hair.

One of the plates on my first Chi fell out six months after I purchaced it. It was a fluke thing and the salon I bought it at replaced it with a new one. I've used the new Chi for about a year and a half and have loved it. However, the second Chi has also stopped working. The 360 swivel cord isn't connecting correctly and the iron keeps loosing power. I love what it did for my hair but I expected a little more longevity for the price I payed. Especially when my little $20 conair curling iron is still hanging in there after many years of use. I'm not willing to buy a new one every year, so I'm looking for a slightly less expensive brand now.

I loved this product, but you must know that according the company, CHI-Farouk International, Target should not be selling these. My iron broke after only 2 months. One day I went to turn it on and nothing, it just stopped working. I had been VERY careful with the iron and had followed all the precautions. I called the company to have it replaced or repaired. The 1st thing they ask is where did you buy it, and when I said online at Target the customer service rep gave me the bad news- they can't help you, as Target is not an authorized salon. I got lucky that I had about a week left on my receipt with Target [...].

I purchased this product right after one of the best haircuts I ever had and was excited and could not wait to run out and purchase a flat iron to keep it looking good. Unfortunatly, I purchased this product on Sunday and by Tuesday it wouldn't even turn on!!!! I thought it was my outlet so I tried a few other in the house and no luck the thing just wouldn't turn on. I must say for the cost of this product I was really upset to say the least. Will not ever advise anyone to purchase the CHI EVER!!!!!!!!!

I loved my CHI but it shorted out just after a year. Im debating on wheter or not I should purchase another but I dont want to spend more for another straightner that will die on me. I wish I would have read these reviews before purchasing my CHI last year. I did not know that these things shorted out the way they do. I drove myself nuts thinking that it was my electrical socket that was the problem.

I love the Chi and how well it straightens my hair. I have very dark, thick wavy hair and the Chi does it's job of getting it straight quickly. Wherever you buy it make sure you get a warranty because I have already been through 2 of them in the past year. My first one stopped heating up and the last one I had just died and would no longer power on. Whatever you do don't wrap the cord! When I called Chi to get a replacement I was told that the cords should not be wrapped. I guess the wiring isn't very strong but I do love the Chi when it's working properly. When you iron your hair with the Chi you will feel how smoothly the Chi runs through your hair rather than the 20 dollar straighteners.

I bought this straightener last Christmas. I had researched straighteners and found that CHI's were some of the best. My hair's naturally poofy, frizzy, and unruly, but this straightener tamed it all. However, it being extremely humid here, during humid days my hair would still poof up a little, but all together I would say it worked almost perfectly. Until yesterday, when it started acting up and wouldn't stay on. I didn't drop it or do anything to make it act up. It will turn on but then turn off, and the only way to get it back on is to hit it or hold it a certain way, so I can still get it to heat up but once I start to straighten my hair it'll turn off again. I'm extremely disappointed that this only lasted me a year, and I don't have the money to replace it. I'm going to try a cheaper straightener now, at least until I can afford a real salon-quality one. If you're looking for a straightener that lasts, I wouldn't recommend this one.
