I ordered this online for my 3 year old daughter for Christmas and will be returning it. There's so much potential in this classic toy, however this model needs a lot of improvements. I expected more from the Melissa and Doug brand. First, the head is very heavy. When my daughter attempts to "ride" the horse using the reins, the weight of the horse's head causes the rein's velcro to come undone, so she was "galloping" with one hand on the horse's head and one on the rein. But that's not the worst part -- the head easily comes off the stick, so she's had more fun playing with the stick this past week. It may make for some fun Godfather-inspired pranks, but for my daughter's big gift from Santa, this toy leaves a lot to be desired. Oh, and I haven't even mentioned that the horse sounds only work periodically even with new batteries. Very disappointing

My 2 year old son got this for his birthday and he loves it. I have never had any problems with the sounds or anything else. We love buying Melissa and Doug products abd feel that they are well worth the price and you can't bet the quality.

I have learned the hard way that Melissa and Doug are very overated as well as over priced on not just this but everything I have ever bought from them. The sounds don't work about 75% of the time as well as the head being too heavy.I will be returning it and not purchasing from Melissa and Doug ever again. I almost bought a train table from them and then found the exact same table for less than half price at a big chain whose name I wont mention. When shopping-I now look around more and find better deals. Target is one of the best places to do that!! Just not this product.
