good quality for the money

We made a latte almost everyday for about a year, with few issues. My biggest complaint is that the water takes about ten minutes to heat up, which feels like forever before work! We never had any problems with water leaking. After the first year, we did start to have problems. First the steamer stopped working, now the steamer is working again but there's not enough pressure to brew the espresso. It's a decent little machine for the money, if you don't work it to death.

I recieved this espresso maker for christmas a year ago. I was very excited to use it the first time. When I used it, steam came pouring out and water drenched eveything. I sent it back and got a new one. The new one is incredibly loud and it now pours water and shoots steam. I never use the milk frother, so I don't know how well that works. Just buy something else. I am.

We had this product at a place where I used to work. We made 2 - 5 lattes every day and had no problems with it at all. We always used filtered water and kept the machine clean.

I bought this machine and it worked fine. Put it away for a while while selling our house. Got it back out and the pump is dead. I used it a whole 5 times maybe. I will never buy another Mr. Coffee again.

Leaks - Possible Fix

I have an older Mr. Coffee pump espresso machine I bought about 8 or 9 years ago. From time to time, I have had the problem where it spurts water around the edges of the coffee holder. Here is how I fixed it:
1. Empty the unit of water, remove the coffee holder, and turn it upside down.
2. Use a small screwdriver to remove the big black O-Ring that the coffee holder squeezes against. Clean it off and inspect it. If it has cuts or dents, go to Ace Hardware or True Value and buy a new one the same size.
3. Use a large screwdriver to remove the large screw in the center and remove the screen with all the holes in it that the water comes out of as it goes into the coffee holder. Clean it up.
4. Also clean up the machine all around where the water comes out and the coffee holder attaches to the machine.
5. Put the metal screen back in, replace the screw, then put the O-ring back in.
Now it will not leak, if you did it right.
I can't guarantee this will work for these machines, but my guess is they are basically the same as the old ones and this should do the trick.

Good for occasional use

If you like espresso and use it more than once per month, don't buy this. Ours leaked all the time and the steamer is made from cheap plastic that eventually breaks.
The coffee holder sometimes seals properly, sometimes not.
We use it about twice per week and it lasted us about a year.

This espresso machine was one of our favorite wedding gifts! The machine is quick to produce and we've had great luck with the creama! We haven't used the pod feature, but regular espresso ground coffee has worked just fine. We use it once or twice a week - great for those early ski mornings when the coffee shop hasn't opened yet! It's [inexpensive], so don't expect gourmet espresso, but it has turned out to be a great 'starter' machine for us. Enjoy!!

Biggest piece of junk I ever bought

This unit is just over a year old, been used maybe 10 times at the most and it leaks water out of the underneath. I thought it was me in the way I was loading coffee the last few times, but after further investigation, (running it without any coffee) I found it to leak the entire contents of the reservoir out on my counter.
I will now look into a better unit and staty away from Mr Coffee products altogether.

Cheapo (but occasionally capable) espresso machine

I have had it for almost two years and I use it at least once a week.
What can I say - This is a cheapo espresso machine.
BUT, if you play with it, it can make a decent espresso and latte/cappuchino (at least as good as Stubracks.)
Here are my suggestions:
First, The grinds have to be quite fine (burr grinder highly recommended).
Second, YOU REALLY HAVE TO press the grinds in (ignore the instructions from the manual that say tap it lightly with the spoon). This, however, might cause or worsen the seal leaking problem the other reviewer had mentioned.
Third, to prevent the seal from leaking DO NOT leave the portafilter (the thingy with the handle where you put the coffee) on the machine for a long time. Leaving it on compresses and deforms the rubber seal, and it eventually starts to leak.
Another problem I had with the machine was that steamed milk always smelled like plastic - i guess they used some cheap (surprize!) stinky plastic for the boiler reservoire. I ran the water through it many times and eventually gave up. I steam milk using another espresso machine.
Bottomline: If you must have a pump espresso machine, you could buy this one. If you practice and experiment with it, you could make a decent cup of coffee. However, you will not be able to achieve consistent quality: whatever are the steps that might produce a great latte one day, will yield a weak tasting coffee on another day. To achieve quality and consistency you'll need to spend $250+
