This toy has been great for my 2-year old son. Yes, you can't pack it neatly away in a tool-molded plastic in the lid, but that hasn't been an issue for us. I start cleaning up by putting the drill in the box and then my son helps me pile the other tools on and we shut the lid. The shapes and the fact that the voice says the name of each shape makes my son repeat after the voice while he's hammering the shapes into their slots. He likes to play with the screws, turn the gears and dance to the music, bang on it in general with the hammer (and it's durable if it can handle that!), and he loves carrying it around. It's a great set. I just wish it was available at the store so that I didn't have to pay for shipping. When you look at the item online it says that it's available both online and in stores, but according to customer service in a Target I went to, it is only available online.

My granddaughter, age 2, loves this tool set. Only one problem is that after the tools are ripped from the packaging (plastic and cardboard) their is no plastic insert as shown on the actual package photo to store the tools and allow for easy closing of the tool box. This certainly does not provide two important educational skills which is to match shapes (the tools to the pressed forms), and for cleaning up after play. I spoke with the supplier directly and they knew exactly what I was referring to before I even mentioned it. They stated that the manufacturer only used the insert for photographing the product and did not manufacture it for the product. I can't return the gift, since my granddaughter won't let it out of her sight.

So, I just bought this toy for my son for Christmas, and it arrived today. It's the cheap Target brand (one of the ones you could find down the $10 toy aisle) My son hasn't played with it yet, obviously, so I can't rate the fun and durability, but I looks a whole lot better online that it does in the package.

I bought this for my 1 year old son for Christmas. And while it looks lame in the package, it IS a great toy. Every kid that comes over wants to play with it (even 6 year old brother's friends). I have taken it to the church nursery and it has been loved there too. My son is 3 now and he still likes the shapes, the music, and using the screwdriver. It is just a fun, easy, compact toy. As for the comment about the storage for the tools, they pack up nicely in the case, you just have to know where to put the drill. The rest of the tools can go anywhere. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

She loved putting the shapes in the holes but wasn't interested in the drill or the hammer. It is still a great toy that packs up easily.

My 2 1/2 year old daughter loves to help Daddy work on stuff so we thought we'd get her her own tool set. We were first disappointed that the drill makes noise but does not move. We have seen other sets that do. There is really not much to do within the set, the screws don't come out very far and were hard for her to manipulate. This may be a cute toy for a younger child but not for one that really wants to do stuff. Also we only got two of the four shapes, just double.

I bought this for my son quite a while ago, and he always comes back to his tools. He's 2 now but has had it since he was 16 months or so. He loves the music and working with the different tools. It also has the shape sorter (4 shpaes) which has helped while he's been learning his shapes and colors. It's cute too because kids can carry it around like a little suitcase. I like that there is a variety of activities in one toy. The drill noise is sort of annoying though...I liked it better before we put batteries in and my son made his own drill noise. Overall, I am pleased with this toy, would recommend it to others and buy it for other kids.
