Good looking.. at first June 24, 2006 Reviewer:  TheNewMrsB See all my reviews >

I got these as a shower present about 2 months ago. The style and look fit perfectly in our black and stainless steel kitchen decor. They are also very sharp and cut excellently.

However, what everybody says is true - after my husband put them in the dishwasher by accident after their second use and there was rust on them! Even some of them that sat in the sink for a few hours were beginning to rust when I pulled them out to wash.

So if you are very meticulous with washing and drying dishes immediately, then these knives are great. For the rest of us on the next day plan, you might want to consider another set.

**EDIT** All you have to do if they rust is fill a tall glass up with Coca-Cola and let the knives sit for a few hours. Then just scrub the rust right off. Worked perfectly for me, now we are happy!

Caution: Flat Top=Blade Up April 3, 2006 Reviewer:  SusieQ "SusieQ" (Ontario, CA)  See all my reviews >

A few words of caution: Since these knives have a flat top, they will turn "blade-up" if not placed on their side in the sink. Likewise, if they are knocked around by other items in the sink/on the counter, be careful!, they will re-position themselves blade-up. I would not recommend buying these knives if you have small children--no matter how careful you are to position the knives on their side, they inevitably turn up-side-down; and, they have caught my husband and me off-guard plenty of times.

I also agree with the other reviews that these knives do develop rust spots if they are not dried after being washed.

Overall, other than these two issues, they are good, sharp knives.

Great knives - great value June 25, 2006 Reviewer:  Single Chic (Doylestown, PA)  See all my reviews >

People, good quality knives should NEVER be put in the dishwasher. ANY set of good quality stainless steel knives you buy will rust if you don't take care of them properly. Wash them in warm soapy water, and dry them immediately.
Anyway, they're good looking, have good weight to them, really nice handles, and do the job very well. GREAT value for the money.

really great, but they do mean "hand wash" May 2, 2006 Reviewer:  BioNerd (Dallas, TX, USA)  See all my reviews >

these knives are great to use, comfortable to hold, and cut extremely well. however, the instructions say hand wash and they really mean it! when i hand wash them, i have no problem with rust, but if i put them through the dishwasher, its another story.

not bad for the money November 28, 2008 Reviewer:  prochef (midwest)  See all my reviews >

No knives, inexpensive or expensive, should go in the dishwasher. A knife should be washed and dried immediately after every use. That being said, if you maintain these Henckels properly, they'll last. Take a steel to them regularly and they hold an edge. They are decent for the price.

Great knives September 17, 2008 Reviewer:  SimHead82 (Sacramento, CA)  See all my reviews >

My husband and I received these knives as a wedding gift. They are super sharp and have a nice grip. I see a lot of people talking about rusting, these are not dishwasher safe. Mine are perfectly fine, how long does it take to hand wash a knife? 2 seconds? These are great knives in my opinion.

Would not recommend March 13, 2008 Reviewer:  M. Hocking "mindy's musings" Real Name (Seattle, WA USA)  See all my reviews >

I have never put the knives in the dishwasher but this set was rusting after my first use! I am so disappointed in them and will never recommend these to anybody else. The only good thing is that the variety of knives is good and the prices is inexpensive.

Worst Knives EVER September 5, 2008 Reviewer:  Tiger Mom "Anne. T" (Sandusky, Ohio)  See all my reviews >

My Husband and I registered for these knives two years ago. After only a few months the knives started to dull. They say Stainless Steel but they aren't. They get brown spots all over them the DO NOT come off. Some of the knives won't even cut a tomato that is how dull they are. The sharpener is ok but in order to cut with the knives after a year or so you will have to sharpen them EVERY TIME. Save your money, get a better set that will last you a long time and don't get these!!!

you get what you pay for July 30, 2008 Reviewer:  I (heart) Target See all my reviews >

These knives are not dishwasher safe. We made the mistake of accidentally washing one in the dishwasher and it instantly rusted. They are wonderful when sharp, but need to be sharpened often. These knives are not terrible, but you might as well spend a little more money and get a nicer set.

Nice Knife Set - Great Value May 6, 2009 Reviewer:  Lisa in Lisle (Lisle)  See all my reviews >

I've seen some of the other complaints on here and it is true that if you don't clean these knives right away you will start to see a rust spot on them. I accidentally had someone put one in the dishwasher and while the knife came out ok there was the start of a rust spot. A little Comet kitchem cleanser took care of that right away.

That said, you really have to ask yourself what do you expect for a big price knife set???? If you stay on top of the care of these, and also it tells you right in the instructions that you need to do so, then this is a pretty nice set. It doesn't take that much effort to clean them up right away. If that is problematic, then open your wallet a little wider, let the moths fly out and pay a couple hundred for the set that you really want.I completely recommend these otherwise.
