What more could I ask for?? January 17, 2008 Reviewer:  RustyB (Downtown Houston)  See all my reviews >

I've had mine nearly 3 years, as I live in an OLD hi-rise with some pretty nasty pipes.

Works absolutely great! Installation took all of about 10 seconds, and doesn't leak a drop, as long as you install any necessary adapter and gasket necessary to fit your sink (lots of adapters included, but a standard sink like mine didn't require any at all).

Water tastes great, and the chrome matches all of my stainless appliances well.

Cons? The "chrome" is just plastic, so it does eventually start to slightly discolor (barely noticable). Filters are expensive (duh). It hangs down lower than the cheaper Btrita (no big deal). I installed the Brita modeal in my neighbor's apartment, and it sucks, IMHO.

At 3 years old, mine is starting to get some mineral buildup, the gasket is drying and making it harder to replace filters, and it OBVIOUSLY can't be as clean inside as it was new. So, today I'm off to Target to buy another one just like it! Considering it comes with a filter, the unit itself is not expensive at all, so it's worth replacing every 2-3 years in my opinion.

If you live in a house, get an under-the-sink filter (easy to install), but if you live in an apartment this PUR filter is perfect!

Great Water Filter January 1, 2007 Reviewer:  Derek A. Casanares "DC" Real Name (Houston, TX USA)  See all my reviews >

I have purchased three (3) of these water filters (one for the ex-wife and kids, one for my girl friend and kids and finally one for myself) and they function extremely well.

changing the filters should be easier but with a little bit of muscle it's a done deal.

If you buy bootled water in the store - stop and purchase a 3-stage filter and save tons of $$$$$$$

You get what you pay for September 24, 2008 Reviewer:  Kristen Coleman See all my reviews >

Yes, the washers begin to leak after an inordinately short amount of time, but this isn't exactly a high dollar item. For a cheap and convenient filtration system, it does a pretty good job. And as for the leaking and consequent lowered water pressure, I have two words to offer: TEFLON TAPE. I wrapped my faucet before installation (as I do with all plumbing repairs), and I have had no problems.

very poor design September 17, 2008 Reviewer:  Kevin (New Jersey)  See all my reviews >

The advantage of having a filer system on the faucet is vastly outweighed by the poor design of these devices. we've gone through six (yes, six) systems of both PUR faucet mount designs. None of them has lasted more than six months before serious leaks or even cracks appear in the housings. the valve-handle types are especially difficult to open for filter changing. PUR does honor their warranty (so we were sent a voucher for each replacement) but they apparently are not factoring reported defects into their re-design process.

I agree with the poor reviews August 21, 2008 Reviewer:  Joey "scientist dude" (Rockville, Maryland)  See all my reviews >

This product is terrible. I found the water quality to be good, but the construction is so terrible and the washers so low quality that the unit starts leaking all over the place after a month or two. When it starts to leak, you lose water pressure going through the filter and so it takes forever to get your filtered water, not to mention that you have to be careful to avoid collecting the non-filtered water at the same time. Why on earth would PandG have such a good system going for them, and then build it so poorly? It just doesn't make any sense to me. At any rate, I purchased two in one year because the first one literally snaped off at the point where it connects to the faucet. I'm definitely not buying a third. So disappointing.

Poor Quality October 6, 2008 Reviewer:  Bic (Twin Cities)  See all my reviews >

This is our third unit (flat learning curve?) and all three had the same poor quality. Easy to install and easy to change filters if you read directions first. But it leaks incessantly where the female adapter meets the filter housing. Won't buy this brand again.

Leaky February 11, 2007 Reviewer:  New Mommy See all my reviews >

We hooked this up and ran into nothing but problems. Water leaked from the facet head dispite everything we tried to tighten and stop it. Then, once the filtered unit was turned on, water dripped out of the line where the cylinder connects. A leaky mess, do not waste your money.

Excellent item! August 7, 2008 Reviewer:  stand up curmudgeon (Chicago, IL, USA)  See all my reviews >

An excellent item. Very sturdy. Works very well. Looks great. Had it for about five months now. No problem installing, if you follow the directions. No leaking around it whatsoever. Just changed the internal filter for the first time--very easy to do when pressure is released by turning on-off switch half way as instructions say. Easier to fill glasses etc. since it is not as low as vertical filters. I would highly recommend it!

Not Worth the Price! January 1, 2008 Reviewer:  LoveTarget See all my reviews >

We switched to the faucet mounted filter from the pitcher style but it didn't take us long to switch back! Installing the system isn't an easy task, but the worst thing is changing the filter, this thing is almost impossible to open! We returned it because we thought it might be defective but the new one did the same thing. I would save some money and stick to the Pur pitcher, it is a simple design and the filter is much easier to change.

Excellent Water Taste January 7, 2007 Reviewer:  Seth Johnson "KEHTABP" Real Name (Gaithersburg, MD, USA)  See all my reviews >

I live in Montgomery Co., Maryland and it's notorious for the most foul water due to old pipes and mercury deposits, not to mention tons of chloride to compensate for the above. You can smell it as soon as you turn on the faucet.

That brings me to the PUR filter. Installation was a breeze (for a man who follows instructions). I was immediately amazed by the quality of water that came out. I even compared it to my Deerpart bottled water and could not taste a difference. I highly recommend it!

If you have a few bucks to spare get an all aluminum one. I suspect that if you wash your dishes in the sink, filter gets banged up a few times. It didn't crack on me but that might be a possibility.
