i had to have this mixer becuase i am in the process of buying all the red kitchenaid products. i love red and i love to match. the mixer is ok....the speeds are NOT very fast, even at the highest. it did come with "wiggly" rods to be inserted for kneading bread, and also another rod, for mixing liquids such as milk shakes. i haven't used either of those yet, but the milkshake mixer rod looks exactly like the kind used at baskin robins. the whole thing is small, and is lightweight to the point of sort of feeling cheap. i really don't think it was worth the cost, but it does the job. besides, it was red.

I love my five speed mixer. I made cookies with it as soon as I got it. Once I added the flour, I only had to turn it up to 2 or 3 to mix the dough. This thing could mix cement!!!

I purchased this mixer because it got a good review from a cooking website that I trust. I just don't understand the great reviews. I used to have an old hand mixer from back in the day that was great and really went fast. This mixer, even on speed 5, seems to be just cruising along. I beat 3 egg whites for about 5 minutes and they just wouldn't form soft peaks -- so I put it in my Kitchenaid stand mixer, and poof! Eggs reached soft peaks in less than a minute. So it wasn't that there was oil or yolk making it not get stiff.

So off to KitchenAid -- they were reliable enough to send me a replacement mixer, which is now sitting on my counter, but I don't have high hopes. I seems it might be marginally faster, but I cannot imagine this mixer powering through cookie dough or anything like that. For the price, it should at least be comparable to the cheap little mixer way back when.

We got this as a wedding present. It's pretty good, I think. It doesn't go incredibly fast like a stand mixer, but it's just a hand mixer. It goes plenty fast for what I've used it for, which is making cake/cookies. Before having this I was always a "by hand" person, so this is definitely a step up!

No, it's not as fast as a stand mixer, but it is fast enough to mix things. I use it ALL the time and I love it. I like that the beaters are thin and easy to clean. I like the fact that the mixer is small and light. I just keep it in my drawer and it's so easy to use. The highest speed isn't that fast but it is still fast enough to do the job.

You really can't go wrong when purchasing a Kitchenaid product. But this mixer is really a nice addition to my black and red kitchen decor. I used this already to make a cake and there was very little splatter or noise. Easy to remove mixers and clean! Highly recommend!
