IGLOO Maxcold 40-qt. Wheeled Cooler June 26, 2006 Reviewer:  dlbennett "dlbennett" (Albany, NY)  See all my reviews >

I found this cooler to be very good and sturdy. We have used this cooler for the past 2 years for our camping trips in the summer. The cooler keeps ice for our whole 4-5 day trip. The handle is helpful to pull the cooler and the lid stayed on and hooked. There is also a drain hole for draining water.

Don't Waste Your Money June 14, 2006 Reviewer:  Colleen See all my reviews >

This cooler doesn't have a drain hole, or lock on lid.
Lid fell off continuesly from day one. We were carrying the cooler, not packed full, the second time we used it and the handle fell off and all our items and ice went flying everywhere. We where left with dirty food and no ice on a camping trip. [...]

No drain hose April 10, 2009 Reviewer:  Episteme See all my reviews >

I just looked at these in the store, and there is no drain hole. Makes me wonder who wrote the reviews that say there are. Of course, it's possible they used to have them, and the company took them out for the newer models.

Product is NOT as advertised November 6, 2007 Reviewer:  RugbyGrrrl (Detroit, MI)  See all my reviews >

I ordered this specifically because it was advertised to have a DRAIN PLUG! THERE IS NO DRAIN PLUG! Although the cooler seems otherwise intact I am probably going to return it because it is simply NOT what I ordered.

In addition, the item I ordered at the same time (a "metro kart") arrived DAMAGED (plastic bits in the box that were part of the frame) and only the frame was in the box - the fabric cooler portion was completely missing but they HAD packed a ripped plastic bag (which I assume the fabric cooler had been in) and the bag had the assembly directions in it.

What's going on Target.com???!!!

It really doesn't have a drain plug. July 11, 2008 Reviewer:  Newlywed "Courtney" (Iowa, USA)  See all my reviews >

When I read the two reviews that said that this product didn't have a drain plug, I thought they were crazy. "But, it says right in the description that there's a drain plug!" I thought. I was wrong. There is most definitely NO drain plug in this cooler. Ultimately, this is more of an inconvenience than anything else, but it's still a misrepresentation.

I've only used it once--this past week when our refrigerator died and we quickly needed to get our freezer items on ice before they spoiled. It kept the items cold enough, but not for nearly as long as I had expected. I kept it closed to avoid allowing any of the cold air to escape, but when I checked on it after about 10 hours the ice had already started to melt. Needless to say, I made other arrangements to store my freezer items while I was waiting for the repairman to come.

Also, it hasn't broken, but the handles seem quite flimsy and I was hesitant to lift it when it was full. It didn't seem like it could handle the weight. Overall, I'm not too impressed. This was a wedding gift, which is ultimately the only reason that I'm keeping it.

Does its job June 15, 2009 Reviewer:  health.nutz See all my reviews >

This cooler does not have a drain, although one would be very handy. The handles do seem flimsy and I was concerned when hauling it out of my Explorer that they would break due to the weight. But it kept my drinks cold from Friday to Sunday without having to add ice, so I can't complain.

Maxcold it isn't August 15, 2009 Reviewer:  Bass Trout Master (Templeton, CA)  See all my reviews >

I purchased a Igloo Maxcold 36 for its size and its capacity to hold ice for several days. I went camping in the high Sierras(August 2009). The average daytime temperature was 76-78. The ice lasted an average of 3/4 of a day. I had to replace the ice every morning. It doesn't live up to its advertisements. I also had a Coleman Extreme and 7 days later I dumped the original frozen ice on my lawn. I contacted Igloo,"We always value any type of feedback our consumers have regarding our products and services." Big help and no refund; don't waste your money on Igloo!

Does its job August 3, 2007 Reviewer:  HuskerFan See all my reviews >

This cooler does an excellent job keeping food and beverages cold for long periods of time. It has a drainage hole, so you can drain excess water and add more ice if needed. It does such a great job at keeping things cold you may not need to add more ice. The handles are very sturdy and the wheels are helpful when moving it around. We got this as a wedding gift but would have been happy to purchase it ourselves.

Excellent Purchase July 23, 2007 Reviewer:  Apartment renter with 3 cats "Nichole B" (Penfield, NY, USA)  See all my reviews >

This cooler has served me very well over the last two years. It does a remarkable job of keeping food cold in hot temperatures. It kept my chili frozen for 4 days in 80 degree temperatures, and it impressed my friends so much that they later asked me what cooler I had because they wanted to get the same one. I wish it was a little bigger, but that is my own fault for not buying a larger one. I've never had any problems with the lid or handle falling off.
