Just Dial The Selected Grind And Press The Button

The reviewer who reports a fragile grinder must have received a defective model. Mine couldn't be more sturdy---and I do NOT baby it.
That said, what sets this grinder apart from virtually all others is that you do NOT have to hold the button down while it's grinding. AND it grinds to your exact specifications.
Having owned a Braun which...1) Forced me to hold-down the button, 2) Was much louder, 3) Was not as durable, and 4) Was much more expensive...I will never go back to the hold-it-yourself model.
My first auto-set grinder was a GE, but it was louder and (believe it or not) didn't grind coffee as tasty as the Hamilton Beach. YES, a grinder apparently can have a huge impact on flavor.
Again, sorry to the reviewer with the broken model, but this one's great. And by the way, I've had it for months now.

A Great Coffee Grinder!

This is the best grinder I've ever owned. I love that I can set it to the number of cups and the type of grind I want and with the touch of a button, it does the rest. The grounds are always consistent. The removable grinding bowl makes it very easy to fill and empty and clean up is a breeze. The hidden cord storage at the bottom makes it easy to put away. The added bonus is the brush that comes with it. It makes cleaning the grounds out of the difficult spots that much easier and the brush stores nicely in the back of the grinder. I've owned many different grinders and this is by far the best for the price. Way to go Hamilton Beach!

Bought 4 months ago and this morning just stopped. Worked fine for small amounts, but when grinding beans for full pot,the beans do not grind all the way. This morning it started and ground for about 4 seconds then just stopped. Do not recommend this product.

I drink coffee all the time. I used this grinder 1-2 times per day. Hidden cord wrap at base is excellent. Auto settings are good as was the removable grinding chamber. I noticed too some beans don't grind which is cheating the flavor just a little. Love the little cleaning brush, but after a couple of months it decides not to stay put on the back of the grinder. The locking mechanism began to fail after 1-2 months of use. The little plastic grooves+tabs which fit the lid in place wear down and break off easily. I've been cheating to keep it working, by using my hands to firmly hold it in place during the grind. But even then it gets interrupted. Next!

I have been using the grinder daily for over a year. Honestly I bought it because I had never seen a timed blade grinder before. I already own a very expensive burr grinder that works great espresso, but could get a nice coarse grind for french press coffee. I bought this guy and sure enough it works perfect for french press. I set mine on 4 cups and the coarse setting and then shhhhhhaaaake it the whole time. It comes out surprisingly even. I don't know about all these people have problems with the motor and the lid, but mine is really holding up well. This is the grinder I recommend to anyone that asks me about affordable grinders or anyone specifically looking for a coarse grind for french press.

I LOVE this coffee grinder. I've had mine for 9 months without incident and enjoy the timed grinder. The blade delivers a more consistent grind than the grinders that simply chop the coffee beans. I especially enjoy the cord keeper storer. It is also great that it won't grind the coffee until the lid is in the "lock" position which helps prevent spills.

I have owned two now (don't know why I didn't learn my lesson after the first), and BOTH just quit working within a few months. It's inexpensive, but you get what you pay for.

i got it as a gift. took a while to get around to using it. the first time i used it i had to run it twice because there were still whole coffee beans in it. second time i used it, well it didn't work. what a waste. if you're getting this one, get two, you'll be glad you did when it breaks.

First one was great and lasted a full year (which is fine - we drink a lot of coffee).
Replaced: Didn't work.
Repaced with another one: didn't work.
So sad - we really liked the large size and it wasn't too messy! Defected to another model from Target - not sure if I have bad grinder karma...I am not joking, it stopped working the first day.
Gave up - grind beans at Trader Joes.
