I purchased this crockpot because of the timer. I have several crock pots and love to use them but I needed something that I could set and forget. This thing is wonderful! There's no way you can mess up a dish in it. The only negative point to it is that it doesn't seal as well as other crock pots I've tried and if your a pro user you need to add a little more water to your recipes to account for this or your food will be drier than usual.

Recieved my Slow cooker in a reasonable time at a good price.
I cook a lot of roasts in my slow cooker and always have had a problem with over cooking them. With the Probe I just set the slow cooker to the finished temperature that I want and when that temperature is reached the cooker drops to warm mode. No more over cooked meat.

DO NOT BUY - Malfunctioned after using it twice

I recently received this slow cooker and it malfunctioned after using it only two times. What was more distressing was once I called Hamilton Beach they said they would need to mail me a mailing slip, 5-15 days, then I would have to repackage the product & ship it back. Once they received the defective slow cooker they would ship me a new one. This total process will last at least a month so I probably will not purchase and appliances from Hamilton Beach in the future.

I looked at several different models. The Rival brand (and others) have a warning about placing your cooker on tables as the surface can burn. The feet are in direct contact. Consequently, I would not purchase those. This crock pot does a terrific job too! It does everything, handling my old recipes as well as being able to cook meats that I would typically roast in the oven. They turn out every bit as good, using the probe, as they do in the oven. I put the meat in and turn it on. When it reaches the temperature that I've predetermined, it keeps it "warm". It's wonderful.

I had a Rival that I hated because it burned food even on the low setting. This slow cooker is perfect. The probe is great for roasts, to get that nice pink center instad of cooking it to oblivion. The timer and warm function are great and it cooks beautifully even when the crock is only half full.

I have had my crock pot for 5 months or so, I love it. It cooks my food to perfection! I have had no issues with the product since I have had it, but if I ever did I am sure the basic warranty would allow for exchange.:)

A mind of its own...

All I wanted for Christmas was a crock-pot, and I received this beauty. I was excited to start and expand my cooking abilities, so I decided to make beef stew with top-of-the-line Angus beef. I spent all night (and lots of $) preparing the meal, and I set it to cook (at low for 6 hours) when I left for work that morning. When I arrived home, something was burning...
The crock-pot was blinking "high" with no time limit. On its own, it went from my set time (6 hours) and temp (low) to high for no apparent reason. I was upset my expensive Angus was ruined, and my fiancé and mother were quick to point out that, "I must have set it wrong." I was positive I had set it right (it's a no-brainer), so I decided to cook another meal to prove a point. That night I made pulled pork and decided to slow-cook it throughout the night, so I could check on it periodically. Again, I set the same temp and time. At about 3am I heard beeping from the kitchen, and to my surprise, the crock-pot (on its own) went to the high temp for no set time.
Sure, this crock-pot is a beauty and digitalized, but it does not work properly. The only way I can slow-cook something is to set the temp on low with no indicated time and to be present at the time of the cooking (which totally defeats the purpose of having a crock-pot). I would recommend this slow-cooker for its looks but not for its brains.

Best Slow Cooker I've Used

I've tried many and this one has been working great for the last six months. The program mode is fantastically simple.
The crock is like the day I bought it and it slowcooks very, very well.
The probe itself is something I found unnecessary since I needed a crock pot to soften the connective tissue of roasts, but the program mode fixed that. Meat comes out perfectly tender and "not" overcooked.
Buy it when they throw it on sale, or if you can't wait, [price] is a fair price.

The probe is what makes this thing the best. I am a hypochondriac about making sure my meat is cooked all the way and so I would usually dry everything out in the oven. Now I can even make my chicken parmesean in here and then put it in the oven for 10 minutes to melt the cheese and it taste crispy and on the outside and moist in the inside =) My husband loves everything that comes out of the crock pot I use it almost every meal =) I even cook chicken meat in there for my tacos or pizzas and slice it when it is done cooking =)

I love this crockpot. We got it as a wedding present and it cooks beef, chicken, and vegetables perfectly. I was doubtful that the thermometer would be accurate the first time I used it, because it didn't seem to be deep enough into the meat. However, after using it many times it provides the perfect "doneness" of the meat. It's also very easy to clean.
