We just moved to a bigger apartment this past May. We had this tiny, noisy, pain in the rear vacuum that just wasn't cutting it in the new place, so I researched vacuums. I'm usually the type to just buy a brand name that I know or that is popular. I'm a stay at home mom, so our money is tight. Also, our 4 yr old can cause a mess that Merry Maids would be afraid of. After reading numerous reviews on Target.com, Yahoo, and a few other review sites, I bought this vacuum. Let me tell you, this is a find!! It picked up dried playdoh that my daughter had left under her table that was stuck to the carpet. Let's just say, the playdoh lost! ha ha!



To be fair, there are a few negatives about this vacuum. 1. the other reviews are right about when you empty the canister, it does get messy. However, that's only when it's full. If you empty your canister after each (or every other) use, you shouldn't have any issues. I haven't. 2. The vacuum has tipped over on my one time. I think that was my fault, but it did fall over. 3. The cord is rather long, BUT, I'd rather plug it in once and not have to stop to plug and unplug. We have a 1,000 sq ft apartment, and I only plug it in once. 4. The vacuum didn't do a great job on my kitchen floor. It spit things out the back, even when the setting was on bare floor. I'm not sure if I was moving the vacuum too fast, or if the bare floor isn't it's greatest feature. 5. Like the other reviews say, it does have a funny smell, but only the first time you use it, and not since. I don't get how people wouldn't expect that. It's a brand new machine, working for the first time, of course the belt is going to smell.



Other than those rather small things, this vacuum is really great. The price is GREAT, the suction power is outstanding, and it really did make my carpets look new. Anyone in an aparment knows that's almost impossible, unless you have new carpet when you move in. It's VERY easy to put together, I did it myself. It's light enough for my daughter to push around. I just can't praise it enough! For the few negative things that I listed (in detail only to help other buyers), it's a vacuum that I will continue to buy!



All in all, I would recommend this vacuum to anyone, and I have! I hope this helps you!

This has been an excellent vacuum for me for the last 2 years. I live in an older rowhouse (not that big) with 2 cats. Everything still works well on the vacuum and suction is still strong. You do have to remember to periodically clean the plastic cyclone pieces above the dirt cup, which can get clogged up. If you don't do that, you will lose suction. However, these parts are extremely easy to remove, clean, and reinstall. I have never had any clogging anywhere else on the unit, but if I did, all the pieces are VERY easy to take apart and put back together. The belt that drives the brush has broken for me once so far, but I quickly and inexpensively got a 2 pack of replacement belts directly from Bissell through their website. This vacuum is everything I expected from a modern, bagless vacuum and it does not cost a fortune. A lot of negative reviews seem to be people who don't like that it is a little heavy or don't like the ergonomics of using it. Personally, I am focused on how well it vacuums. WARNING: This goes for any upright vacuum. Be careful when sitting your vacuum on stairs in the same spot for a period of time while using a hand tool or whatever. The rotating brush can melt/burn the carpet if the vacuum is set for low carpets and/or it is straddling the stair and creating a small pressure point where the weight of the vacuum is pushing a small section of the rotating brush forcefully into the carpet.

Reading the reviews for this model were so helpful in deciding which upright to choose. I have to be perfectly honest, however, and say that the purple design is what really sold me on it--purple is my favorite color! :) I was comfortable with my choice, though, b/c it's a Bissell and I'm glad I went w/ this one. It's bagless, has an easy to clean filter, powerful suction, accessible attachments and is no louder than your average vacuum. I agree w/ the other reviewers who said it's a bit flimsy when it comes to using the attachments, but once you stabilize it against something sturdy it's absolutely fine. Also, the cord has great length to it. I'm able to clean two rooms and a hallway while the vacuum is plugged into the same outlet. This Bissell is possibly the best vacuum I've owned! My husband loves it, too, and USES it so...enough said, right? I love it!

My friend let me borrow this vacuum recently, due to my old broken vacuum and my ever-shedding cat. I knew my rugs were pretty dirty, especially the shag area rug in my living room. This vacuum is about 4 months old and used at least once a week. I am absolutely AMAZED by how well this thing works! Yeah, it's kind of bulky, a little loud (since when are vacuums supposed to be quiet?) and certainly not "lightweight," and using the hose can be a bit difficult at times. It's worth the pain when you see how well it works! I vacuumed about 5 feet of one of my bedrooms and had to empty the canister. I have NO IDEA where all that dust and fur came from, but this thing sucked it up! I was FINALLY able to get the caked-in dust and cat hair from the corners of my floors up. The true test was my burgandy shag rug, however. I don't believe the rug had ever been WELL vacuumed in the 3+ years I've owned it (due to the $150+ i've spent in other vacuumes being total crap). I only vacuumed about 3 square feet, and had to empty the canister TWICE. it's AMAZING how much dirt it pulled out! And my shag area rug, which i was debating whether to throw out because it was so dirty, now looks brand new again. As soon as I get paid, I'm buying one of these for myself!

This is a great vacuum! We have had it for 2 years now and it stills works great! We have had no problems with it at all. It is very powerful and cleans the carpet very well. I love the look of this vacuum too! It is one of the most stylish vacuum's out there with its purple translucent design!

This vacuum cleaner is terrific! I was able to put it together myself and start using it right away. Suction power is incredible but you have to be careful it doesn't run away from you. I can't recommend this vacuum for anyone who lacks strength to handle it because it is a bit heavy to carry around but once it gets going on your carpet it's fantastic. My carpets look great, even my older area rugs. I'm very glad I chose this machine.

This vacuum started out good. Now I have owned it for 8-9 months, it has lost suction twice!! The handle broke, I have to lean up against the wall. I can't wait to throw it out where it belongs, in the garbage!!!

This is such a great vacuum for the price. I bought it about three months ago and wanted to use it for a while before I reviewed it. The first time I used it I could not believe how much dirt and hair it picked up. I vacuum a couple of times a week, and I always have to empty the canister often. That's a good thing, it means it's picking up everything on the floor. I also like that you can clean all of the parts and filters, because it does get dirty and dusty fairly quickly. My only complaint is that it does not do well on bare floors, which I didn't really expect, but it does have a bare floor setting. It grabs some of the dirt and dust, but spits some of it back at your feet. That is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Up until this point I used an expensive Kirby that did the same thing unless you used the special bare floor attachment, so this is not a big deal. I was prepared to spend at least two or three times this much on a new vacuum, but after reading the other reviews, I thought I would give this one a try. So glad I did.

This is really one of the best vacuum's I've ever had! I got this about 18 months ago and it still works like new! As long as you keep it away from wet carpet and clean it out it works great. I also have 2 cats and 1 dog and it get all the hairs!
